Sanctuary Opening Times
10am–12.30pm and 3pm–6pm Mon – Saturday by appointment only. All dogs and puppies at the Mayo SPCA CLG are fully vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas and neutered (when of age). We ask an adoption fee €70 and this goes some way to cover the costs whilst they are with us and also if there is any spare goes towards helping other dogs that come into our shelter. Cats and kittens at the Mayo SPCA are fully vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas, neutered (when of age), cat-flap and litter-trained, Adoption fee €30 and this goes some way to cover the costs whilst they are with us and also goes towards helping other cats that come into our shelter. We have a report of a cat deceased on the pavement between the railway bridge and Corrib Oil in Ballyhaunis (on opposite side of the road from Corrib Oil). The cat is white and light brown/grey.

We have a report of an all white very small kitten maybe 2/3 months in Kiltimagh across from the TRD near Maghus castle turn. Apparently it was crouched on side of the road terrified of everything and cars and everyone kept driving around it so the finder stopped to try and move it off the road and catch it but it took off down the road for Maghus castle.

Could anyone in the area look for and try to secure this poor kitten?

Pets need extra protection on a few fronts this week. For the next few days we will see very high temperatures that they are not used to.

Please don't walk dogs or let them stray. Keep cool, plenty of shade and water and no unnecessary exertion.

No car journeys.

Plenty of water available at all times

Seek advice from a vet immediately if your dog appears to be in any distress eg. panting excessively, unsteady on feet, vomiting, restlessness or anything that indicates to you that they are struggling.

On Thursday and Friday there is a possibility of thunderstorms and pets can panic, escape from normally secure gardens and run blindly into danger.

Take time now to ensure that they have clear ID on collars and microchips up to date.

Check all boundaries

In the event of a storm, keep your pets indoors and calm with television or music and a spot to lie low if they need to hide
