Cherry Orchard Community Garden

Cherry Orchard Community Garden This initiative was set-up by Cherry Orchard Regeneration Board with funding from Dublin City Council and assistance from CDVEC.

The Cherry Orchard Community Garden was developed as one of the Cherry Orchard Regeneration Projects in 2010.It was officially opened in September 2010 with a visit from the President Mary McAleese. This initiative was set up by the Cherry Orchard Regeneration Board with funding from Dublin City Council and assistance from City Dublin Vocational Educational Committee(Now the Education and Training

Board). Management of the garden was handed over to the Ballyfermot/Chapelizod Partnership in 2012. The Steering Committee was formed in 2013 and the Partnership was asked to chair the committee. Currently the members of the committee are community gardeners, rep from the allotment holder’s forum, Tus Team Leader, Enterprise Coordinator, Community Development Coordinator, CEO Equine Centre, and the Tus outreach worker.

Exciting news! We are delighted to announce that Liffey Partnership's Cherry Orchard Community Garden project has been chosen by SSE Airtricity for their Generation Green Community Fund.

The Garden will receive significant funding to purchase a new EV Van and build a teaching cabin. This will help us to reduce our carbon footprint and most importantly improve the Garden as a facility for the whole community to enjoy.

Following the success of the recent Strawberry Fair, we are grateful to be able to develop this space and provide a hub of climate action in Cherry Orchard. Huge thanks to Padraig and the SSE team who are supporting projects across Ireland and Northern Ireland that are helping to create a greener future.
