🎊 MEDAL HAUL FOR MOORE COMMUNITY GAMES!
CONGRATULATIONS to Moore Community Games Club, which amassed 9 medals – one gold, four silver, and four bronze – in the County Community Games Athletics Finals in Ballyleague today.
Top of the podium was Tiernach Greene, who stormed to a gold medal in the under-8 (80 metres) final, thus securing his place in the All-Ireland finals in August.
There were silver medals for the under-12 girls' relay team of Aoibhinn Whyte, Alannah Grehan, Isabelle Whyte, Hannah Killeen, and Sadie O’Brien, after they won their heat in convincing style.
There were also impressive silvers for Joshua Sweeney in the under-10s (200 metres), Rory Kenny in the under-14s (800 metres), and Kate Killeen in the under-16s (1,500 metres).
The under-10 mixed relay team of Orlaith Kelly, Jack Glynn, Jessica Daly, Joshua Sweeney, Harry Whyte, and Cara Collins ran very well in both the heat and final and secured bronze medals.
Individual bronze medals were won by Holly Dolan in the under-8s (60 metres), Hannah Killeen in the under-12s (200 metres) and Conor Dolan in the under-14s (100 metres) after strong performances in their heats and finals.
Those finishing in second and third places in the individual races have qualified for the regional athletics finals in July.
A total of 24 youngsters represented Moore in individual races, with an additional seven competing in relays. Several of the club’s youngsters reached finals and narrowly missed out on medals.
There were fourth place finishes for the under-12 boys relay team of Jack Whyte, Eanna Loughnane, Matthew Dolan, Senan Greene and Páidi Whyte and also the under-13 mixed relay team of Conor Dolan, Grace-Rose Dolan, Rory Kenny, Caragh O’Connell and Shonagh Kelly.
Meanwhile, on Friday evening, Senan Greene performed impressively in the under-16 pitch and putt final in Castlerea, where he finished just outside the medals.
The club will also be represented by 11 youngsters in the field county final in Castlerea next Friday, June 5. Events include long puck, ball throw, and long jump.
