Our sincere condolences to Madge and Michael's family on his passing. A true gentleman, may he Rest in peace.
Miceรกl Casey: Many in the Irish Draught, Connemara and show worlds will be saddened at the news about the late Miceรกl, or Michael as we also knew him, RIP.
There was always a kindness, a gentleness and just pure 'auld decency' about Miceรกl. Condolences to Madge, his family, friends and his Mohill Show colleagues.
The best way to describe the spirt of the Leitrim man is to borrow this anecdote from The Louisburgh Horse Show's Tommy Bennett, who said that if you told the sprightly 80-something Leitrim man, who'd spent a long day judging at the show, there was an Irish Draught at the top of Croagh Patrick, he'd want to go climbing that evening on the way home to see the horse.
So many pictures gathered during the years of Michael sitting ringside too, watching intently, always in the company of his lovely wife Madge and their good friend Padraig Fitzpatrick.
Will post some later, in the meantime, here's the link to an article that only just recently came up in conversation about the 'Leitrim legend'.
