Castlebar Community Clean Up Group We are a volunteer led group established in September 2020. The aim of the group is to maintain and enhance public amenities in Castlebar and surrounding areas.

Many areas have been cleaned up and more projects are ready to go.

LOOKING BETTER THAN EVER.
Over the past several weeks the Castlebar Community Clean Up Group have been hard at work keeping our beautiful lough Lannagh walkways in top shape for the hundreds of visitors who enjoy the area each day.
If you have been out for a stroll recently or your a participant in the Castlebar Park Run or the Graine Mhaol Dragon Boat Club you may have spotted our litter control pick up, restoring overgrown seating areas, managing long grass, overgrown briars and vegetation.
To everybody who took the time to say thanks we appreciate your kind words.
If you want to join us on any Saturday morning we start at 9 AM and finish just after 10 AM.

This clean up job was completed on 3 outings and is one of our biggest projects each year.
We have removed builders waste, litter of all sorts and dumped rubbish. It's done and dusted now thanks to the volunteers from Castlebar Community Clean Up Group who have been on the move twice a week to keep Castlebar clean. Thanks to the Castlebar Municipal Authority who have removed the waste material.

The Castlebar Community Clean Up Group are continuing to tidy up around all the seating areas around Lough Lannagh Castlebar.
Thousands of people walk, run and cycle this magnificent amenity each day. Overgrown weeds and vegetation are been removed to allow people a free passage without obstruction.
Dog fouling remains an issue unfortunately.

The growth of weeds is phenomenal at the moment in gardens, footpaths, greenways etc. Many steams and rivers have become over run with growth from fertilisers also.
The Castlebar Community Clean Up Group continue to tackle this problem and have again entered the river and have made steady progress and will continue over the next few days to finish the job.

Our volunteers were kept busy in the Lough Lannagh catchment area in Castlebar.
Trimming back seating areas that were overgrown by briars, noticious weeds and bushes.
Full clean up of Leisure Complex car park. Cutting back entrances for the Castlebar Park Run participants and other visitors who frequent lough Lannagh Castlebar. A full litter pick was also completed.

Wishing Andy Moran and the Mayo Senior Football team the very best of luck today in the All Ireland Football Final in Croke Park. Safe travelling to the best supporters in the country as thousands of Mayo supporters hit the road by car, bus, rail, lucas, dart and intercity services.
Welcome home to all the supporters who have travelled from overseas to cheer on Mayo today.

Our volunteers found the old cemetery roadway leading to the old cemetery in Castlebar in a terrible state with discarded litter, overgrown vegetation, weeds, over hanging briars and branches.
The situation has been restored and is now in great shape for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles to travel along the route.
