Happy Pride Month! 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤍🌈🌈

In the early 70s the Irish gay rights movement was formed

In 1974 the first ever pride march took place in this country organised by the Irish s*xual liberation movement.

In 1975 the first ever interview with an openly gay man aired on RTE.

In 1988 The European court of human rights ruled AGAINST the Irish government in a case regarding the criminalization of homos*xuality in Ireland.

In 1993 homos*xuality was decriminalized in Ireland.

In 2010 civil partnerships were recognized in Ireland.

In 2015 same s*x marriage was legalized in Ireland.

We're not finished.

Today you march on hollowed ground, of the very many that came before you that fought to come this far.

You march with peace, with pride, with dignity.

Today is about freedom, about basic human rights.

You are seen, you loved and you are exactly who you are meant to be.

Today you march for love, you march for equality, you march for respect.

Today we march with you.
