BTPs coordinator Maggie was delighted to be invited to present at the TESS School Attendance Summit 2026 in Croke Park today, alongside our partners in Bremore Educate Together Secondary School, to speak about the relationship we have built and the impact it has had on Traveller children and families in Balbriggan.
What started with conversations between Martin and Maggie BTP, Bremore Educate Together Secondary School and the Traveller students in informal meetings helped in creating a space where Traveller young people felt welcomed, listened to and proud of who they are, has grown into a meaningful partnership built on trust, respect and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Our work with Bremore ETSS has shown what can happen when schools, Traveller organisations, families and young people work together rather than working in isolation.
When we listen to our young people, understand their experiences, respect their culture and create a real sense of belonging, we can begin to remove barriers and create positive change.
This partnership is proof that when we work together, change happens, and it happens for the better.
We are proud of the work being done in Balbriggan and proud to have Traveller voices at the table, helping shape the conversations and solutions that affect our children and families.
