Ballinkillen Lorum Community Centre was built in response to a need from the local communities for a social hall. The centre was built as a community effort with the locals raising the funds. It is frequently used for fundraisers, celebratory occasions, quiz nights, bingo and various sports like

badminton and yoga. The Centre was officially opened on 1 November 1979. In 1985 a club licence for the sale of alcohol was obtained and in that year one of the rooms was converted into a lounge bar. The Club bar opened in December 1985. A new lounge was built in 1990
