***WEATHER WARNING UPDATE***
Storm Debie is currently several hundred kilometers off the SW coast of Ireland.
Latest data from high resolution models is now confirming winds gusting anywhere from 80kmh to damaging 140kmh gusts. The core track of strongest winds as of 2000hrs is calculated to be from County Clare through the midlands and exiting the island at approx North Meath or Louth.
Our view is that the public need to judge their own local conditions as to whether it is safe to travel on Monday morning. Numerous schools, colleges and public bodies will now be closed with further upgraded red warning areas. Your safety is based on your own judgement but we would urge you to heed the warnings now in place.
0300hrs to 0600hrs - Munster seeing highest peak winds of 100kmh to 140kmh.
0400hrs to 0700hrs - Midlands seeing highest peak winds of 80mh to 135kmh.
0600hrs to 1000hrs - Eastern areas seeing highest peak winds of 80kmh to 125kmh.
Conditions could change rather quickly due to small variations on the track of the system so keep up to date with your forecast before leaving home etc.
Expect widespread power outages overnight and tomorrow morning.
Expect detours and road closures on secondary road networks due to spot flooding, downed trees and debris.
Expect cancelations to sailings and delays at Irish airports to include Belfast.
Never attempt to clear downed trees during a storm. Wait until the winds have subsided in your area.
Avoid upland exposed road networks and coastal road networks especially in high sided vehicles. Leave the motorbike or scooter at home.
Be safe and be prepared.
