The stunning Full Hunter's Moon is happening soon! 🏹🌕

On October 26, 2026, the spectacular Hunter's Moon is set to light up the night sky, glowing brighter and more golden than usual.

Traditionally named because it signaled the time to prepare for winter, its bright light historically aided hunters tracking game through newly cleared autumn fields.

Step outside right after sunset and look toward the east to watch it rise!

The 1916 Bursary is a financial scholarship to encourage the participation and success of students from sections of society including Travellers and Roma that are significantly under-represented in higher education.

Students must have a household income under the limit for the special rate SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland) grant. They must also be first-time undergraduates in a participating college.

Successful applicants receive:

· €5,000 a year for the full course (Tier 1) or,

· €2,000 a year (Tier 2).

This year there are 400 Tier 1 and 200 Tier 2 bursaries across the whole country. Colleges give them to the applicants in greatest need.

Applications for the Bursary will close on Friday 9 October at 5 pm.

National Women's Enterprise Day -
Thursday, Oct 15th, 2026

Dublin Event Details

The four Local Enterprise Offices in Dublin are jointly organising one of the largest celebrations of women entrepreneurs and women in business in the capital in 2026! Over 320 participants are expected at this event, which will be hosted by broadcaster and entrepreneur Anna Daly at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan.

This event will appeal to of great interest to those interested in the beauty sector, as multi-award-winning entrepreneur and skincare expert, Jennifer Rock, CEO of the Skin Nerd, is this year’s keynote speaker.

Sofie Rooney, Chimac, restaurant-quality Korean-inspired sauce brand (LEO South Dublin), Áine Devlin, ExamRevision (LEO Dublin City) Mags Morgan, Mizz Rio (LEO Fingal) and Dervla Arthurs, Snugabugz (LEO DLR) will feature on the day, as well as internationally-recognised trainer, Danica Murphy of Prism, who will be encouraging attendees to ‘break the ice’ by facilitating networking sessions. There will also be representatives from various state support agencies on hand to answer your questions in the Exhibition Zone.

All around the country, 16 events are being organised for National Women’s Enterprise Day 2026 by Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) in local authorities, supported by Enterprise Ireland.

Professional Solicitor Apprenticeship

The Law Society is introducing a new solicitor apprenticeship programme this week that will allow school-leavers to train to become a solicitor without a third-level degree!

Designed to broaden access to the profession, the ‘earn-while-you-learn' programme offers another access route for would-be solicitors.

It will be fully accredited by the Law Society and of equal standing to existing qualification pathways.

The National Traveller Heritage Strategy 2026 - 2030 was recently launched and seeks to support the advancement of Traveller Culture and Identity.

Two of the exciting initiatives included in the strategy are:

1. National Traveller Heritage Hub

An initial scoping study will be undertaken to understand the possible operating models for a national Heritage Hub. The Oversight Group will inform the development of the brief for this scoping study and consider how to act on its recommendations. A policy recommendation may be necessary.

2. Funding for post doctoral research focussed on Traveller heritage through a partnership with Research Ireland

The Traveller Heritage Working Group was convened by Owen Patrick Ward of University of Galway in December 2023.

The Group met eleven times between December 2023 and April 2026.
