Congratulations to Foroige -Gort Youth Service on their recent win of best entry at the Gort St. Patrick’s Day parade!

A wonderful group of drummers including participants from our programmes with Foróige, Pulse and in our Gort and Kinvara Music Hubs marched in the parade alongside artwork made with the Galway and Roscommon ETB Local Creative Youth Partnership.

GALWAY COUNTY MUSIC HUBS

Our Music Hubs are in full swing but we still a few spaces remaining!

Do you know someone (8-18 years) interested in:
-starting instrumental or vocal lessons for the first time?
-further developing their performance skills?
-starting a new instrument?

Try one of our 110 classes in a variety of instruments across our 11 after-school Music Hubs in Clifden, Ballinasloe, Kinvara, Glenamaddy, Gort, Headford, Loughrea, Oranmore, Tuam, Moycullen & Portumna.

We are proud to see our Music For All Hub in Oranmore flourishing, breaking down barriers and ensuring that children and young people with additional and complex needs have equitable access to empowering musical experiences.

We also offer an instrument rental scheme to our students; so for those who don't have an instrument, this shouldn't prevent you from starting to learn as these instruments are available from us at nominal rates.

We're delighted to announce that our Music Hubs across Galway County reopen on the week beginning Monday January 19th.

Do you know someone (8-18 years) interested in:
-starting instrumental or vocal lessons for the first time?
-someone wishing to further develop their performance skills?
-someone looking to start a new instrument?

Do you know we offer an instrument rental scheme? so for those who don't have an instrument, this shouldn't prevent you from starting to learn as these instruments are available from us at nominal rates.

In addition to our weekly classes at more than 50 schools and a range of youth services across Galway County, we are currently offering afterschool tuition at 10 Music Hubs from Clifden to Ballinasloe, Kinvara to Glenamaddy.

We are also delighted to announce that we will be adding Portumna (H53 A263) to our list of Music Hubs this term and that we will be expanding our options for children and young people with additional needs at our dedicated Music For All Hub in Oranmore.

With over 80 weekly classes currently offered in a variety of instruments across our Music Hub network in Galway County, access and opportunity to performance music education was never as prevalent.

WE ARE RECRUITING...

Would you like to join our team at Music Generation Galway County?
Music Generation Galway County's provision has grown exponentially year-on-year and in order to cater for current and future needs we are looking to recruit another Resource Worker. In 2024 we engaged with more than 5,500 children and young people across Galway County.
We would love to hear from those who are passionate about the power of performance music education and how it can transform young lives and communities.

Our work also involves producing events and festivals for young people, and so if you have experience in this area and/or with social media, content creation etc…then we’d love to hear from you!

The new Resource Worker will work alongside Music Generation Galway County’s Music Development Officer, its team of Musician Educators, its Adminstrator and Resource Worker, and together they will continue their mission to achieve best outcomes for children and young people across Galway County.

We also offer professional development opportunities to our staff to broaden their knowledge & skill set.

Don’t miss this weekend’s masterclasses. Some of Ireland’s finest musicians & tutors will be with us at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, (Claregalway) this Saturday (15th).

There’s still some space in a handful of classes. Check out Harp with Holly Geraghty and amhrán with Piaras O’Lorcáin for instance. Sean-Nós dance with Oireachtas na Samhna 2025 winner Becky. What a line-up. The fiddle class with Tara Breen is sold out & others are on their way. So be quick!

Classes will be followed by a céilí led by Christy MacGearailt and a session hosted by Damian McKee, Eamon Murray & Liam Bradley (Beoga) & Zoran Donohoe (Biird)

Bí cinnte gan ár máistir-ranganna a chailleadh an deireadh seachtaine seo. Beidh roinnt de na ceoltóirí is fearr sa tír linn i gColáiste Bhaile Chláir, Dé Satharn beag seo (15ú).

Tá spás fós fágtha i roinnt de na ranganna. Mar shampla, ranganna cláirsí le Holly Geraghty, amhránaíocht le Piaras Ó Lorcáin agus damhsa ar a sean nós le buaiteoir Steip 2025, Becky Ní Éallaithe. Nach bhfuil an t-ádh orainn!! Tá na ranganna fidile le Tara Breen díolta amach agus is gearr go mbeidh na ranganna eile freisin. Mar sin déanaigí deifir agus cláraigh anois!
