Amicitia is happy to let you know that work on the ***Amicitia Biodiversity Park and Community Garden*** is slowly ramping up.

With thanks to gardening and growing enthusiast, Gillian Lally, and Athenry Men’s Shed we now have wonderfully built raised beds which have been roughly placed until they are placed in their permanent location.

We will shortly be building a cabin on site thanks to Harrison Gardner and Common Knowledge. The intention is to have a community garden and biodiversity park and hold workshops on sustainable development in the cabin in the future.

Other elements of the project will include rain water harvesting, a large carbon fibre poly-tunnel, accessible walkways, a pond, and much much more.

If you are interested in taking part in this community development project it is open to everyone near and far.

We will certainly need volunteers with gardening and building skills. So, if this project speaks to you, please do call / text / WA / Signal Shelly on 0872871355 or email [email protected].

Amicitia is particularly grateful to Galway County Council for their ongoing support and commitment to funding projects in our rural towns and villages.

***ATTENTION FOODIES GROWERS SELLERS***
FREE TRAINING TO COMMUNITY GROUPS AND BUSINESSES

The event on the 6th will be an introduction to the programme and we are looking to invite anyone from in and around Athenry with an interest in food from both the community and business sectors. The training will be a short course with a micro-credential from UCC at the end of it. So it would be suitable for any businesses that might be interested in upskilling their staff or community food growers that are keen to collaborate.
