🩸 Today, on Blood Cancer Day:
May 28th, we stand together to raise awareness, show support, and remind anyone affected by blood cancer that they are never alone. ❤️

Blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, impact thousands of individuals and families every year across Ireland. Behind every diagnosis is a person, a family, and a journey that deserves compassion, care, and support.

At Athenry Cancer Care, we are proud to support those affected through emotional support, practical help, and a caring community that understands the challenges cancer can bring.

Today we encourage everyone to:

✨ Learn more about blood cancers
✨ Check in on loved ones
✨ Support local cancer services
✨ Spread awareness and hope

Together, we care. Together, we make a difference. ❤️

☀️ May is Melanoma Awareness Month ☀️

Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer, but early detection truly can save lives.
In Ireland, over 1,100–1,290 people are diagnosed with melanoma every year, and skin cancer is now the most common cancer in Ireland, with over 11,000 cases diagnosed annually.
Awareness and prevention have never been more important.

Remember to be sun smart:

🔍 Check your skin regularly and speak to your GP if you notice any changes

At Athenry Cancer Care, we are here to support our guests and families every step of the way.

Awareness, prevention and early action matter.

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers; but when detected early, it is highly treatable.
This April, we’re encouraging everyone to take a moment to learn the signs, listen to your body, and look after your health. 💙

Know the symptoms:
• Persistent changes in bowel habits
• Blood in your stool
• Abdominal pain or bloating
• Unexplained weight loss
• Ongoing fatigue

🚨 If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it, early action can save lives.

🥦 Small changes, big impact:

• Eat a balanced, high-fibre diet
• Stay active
• Limit alcohol intake
• Don’t ignore screening invitations

👩‍⚕️ Screening saves lives
Bowel screening can detect issues before symptoms even begin. If you’re eligible, take part; it could make all the difference.

💬 Let’s break the stigma- talking about bowel health is normal, important, and could help someone seek help sooner.
