Ashbourne Playspace

SIX YEARS AGO in relation to our long promised skatepark Meath County Council adopted this motion at the Ashbourne Municipal District Meeting, May 2018.

"....any Planning Application, Part 8 or otherwise, on the Department of Education lands in Ashbourne shall comply with information presented in the passing of Motion 5.4.1 at the Full Council meeting in May 2018; that 55 homes are to be built on 6-7 acres. In addition, no houses will be occupied until Zone 3 of the Linear Park is developed and accessible to the public".

On hearing about another delay which will likely bring us into 2025, we ask will this 2018 motion be honoured? Meath County Council

We wish to remember here our friend John (Jack) Holmes who is laid to rest today. Jack was a long time champion and friend of Ashbourne Playspace and a great advocate for greenspace in Ashbourne generally. He was a credit to Ashbourne and will be remembered fondly for his passion and all the time he gave to the community. His most recent project was the Ashbourne 2020 garden and to quote, from another group he made great contributions to in our town, the Ashbourne Historical Society "It was a fitting tribute to Jack and his drive that the tree planting for the garden took place the weekend that he passed away. Hopefully his vision for a park and a History Trail in Ashbourne will become a reality in the future." Rest in Peace Jack and thank you. https://www.gofundme.com/f/g5qkpx-john-holmes?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer
