Unfortunately our joint expedition with 3rd Wexford Scouts Gorey had to be curtailed.
However, on the positive side, every day is a learning day, and everybody got a little more knowledge, a little more experience, put in the bank for the next time.

Why and how do we do dynamic risk assessment? Why do we monitor the changing weather? How do we adjust and manage our plans when circumstances change? How do we manage as a group when one of the party falls ill? How do we pull together to support everyone? Is my packing right? How do we get water? How do we look after toileting?

Big good luck vibes to all our Scouts, Venture Scouts and Rover Scouts heading into their Junior and Leaving Cert exams!...

Big good luck vibes to all our Scouts, Venture Scouts and Rover Scouts heading into their Junior and Leaving Cert exams! 🍀

Remember, these exams are just one chapter in your story. You’ve worked hard, you’ve learned so much, and you’re capable of amazing things. Take a deep breath, stay focused, and just do your best, that’s all anyone can ever ask of you.

Don’t forget to step away from the books, get some fresh air, and look after yourselves. We’re so proud of every single one of you….. you’ve got this! ⛺️🔥

🥾⛑️ Supporting Our Adult Volunteers: Investing in Adventure ⚜️

This weekend, our Scout Group is busy in a different way, there might not be any planned Youth Member activities, but for an incredibly important reason. 🤔

This Saturday and Sunday, several of our dedicated adult volunteers are busy behind the scenes. They are currently giving up their weekend to undertake intensive REC3 training (Rescue Emergency Care Level 3: is an advanced, internationally recognised first aid qualification specifically designed for remote, wilderness, and outdoor environments).

This training is the backbone of everything we do. It ensures our volunteers are equipped with the latest safety standards, and best practices for the Out of Doors.

By investing this time now, we guarantee that our young people can continue to enjoy the most exciting, adventurous, and above all safe outdoor experiences possible.

A huge thank you to our Adult Volunteers for their commitment and passion. 🙏 🤩

🦫 Beaver Scout Friday Highlights

It was a night to remember at Beaver Scouts this past Friday! We had a brilliant time celebrating some fantastic milestones and making memories together.

🌟 Key Highlights: 🌟

⚜️New Faces: We were thrilled to host an investiture for our new members. Welcome to the colony!

⚜️New Leadership: A huge congratulations to our newest Adult Scouter, Kevin who joined the team. We are so happy to have you on board.

⚜️ Sleepover: The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the sleepover, a massive milestone for many, we had a great time as you can see 😃

The excitement was palpable from start to finish.
A big thank you to our Adult Scouter Team who worked hard to make the night such a success. Here is to many more adventures together!

The last number of weeks our Cubs have been learning the skills that were covered on the county skills day back in January at Ratoath Scout Den - backwoods, pioneering, emergencies & camping.
The Cub 6ers & 2nders (young leaders) are sharing the skills they learned with their peers. Together with the Cub Scouter team they planned and have delivered this training program. They decided what to do and how and delivered it.
The last 2 weeks have been especially cool 😎 - firelighting and cooking on a fire 🔥
Just look at these happy cubs 😄 with their fires, toasties, bread sticks & s’mores! 🍡

Wishing all our Scouts, Scouters (volunteers), parents, and the wider Ashbourne community a very Happy Easter! 🌸🌱

Easter is a wonderful time to reflect on new beginnings and the sense of hope that comes with the changing seasons. As the new season blooms around Ashbourne and the days stretch longer, it’s a reminder of the fresh energy and exciting opportunities ahead for our Scout Group.

The 6th Meath is gearing up for a big season of growth, learning, and outdoor adventure. We hope everyone takes this long weekend to recharge, enjoy the brighter evenings, and look forward to the trail ahead.

Whether you’re heading off on a hike or just enjoying a well-earned rest with family, have a safe, peaceful, and wonderful break! 🧗‍♂️✨

🚨 NEW BADGE ALERT 🚨

In consultation with Scouting Ireland and the NTA, the 6th Meath (Ashbourne) is proud to announce a pilot program for the ultimate local challenge: The Commuter & Bus Endurance Special Interest Badge. 🚌🧭🥇

Specifically designed for our local environment, this badge will test a Scout’s patience, navigation, and survival skills during one of Ashbourne's greatest challenges. Due to popular demand we are also opening this badge up to the wider Ashbourne community.

To earn this prestigious award, Scouts must successfully master the following phases:

Phase 1: Bus Stop Stance. Document a minimum four-hour consecutive wait at an Ashbourn bus stop for the '103 City Centre' while demonstrating positive mental attitude as the digital display loops "Delayed."

Phase 2: Actually successfully board a 103 bus to Dublin on the first attempt during peak hours. (Warning: This phase may be mathematically impossible).

Phase 3: Morse Code Commute. Communicate a message from the back of an overcrowded bus to a Leader at the front using only rhythmic tapping.

We are establishing the official Assessment Zone at the bus shelter this evening. This is the ultimate test of the Scout motto: 'Be Prepared' (to wait, and wait, and wait...).

Who's signing up? ✋
