Volunteer Opportunity at Arklow Lifeboat Station

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to take on the role of Branch Chairperson (Vice) with the Arklow RNLI fundraising team.

Our volunteer fundraising team plays a vital role in supporting the RNLI and helping raise the funds needed to save lives at sea. The team organises a wide range of fundraising activities and events throughout the year, working together to make a real difference in our community.

This is a great opportunity to get involved, meet people, support a cause that matters, and help shape the future of RNLI fundraising in Arklow.

Arklow RNLI Golf Classic 2026

The Arklow Golf Club RNLI Golf Classic is taking place on Friday, 25th September 2026, in support of Arklow RNLI and the lifesaving work of the RNLI.

The event will feature the RNLI Perpetual Challenge Cup, including the Fergus Bolger Trophy for Societies, as well as the Open Golf Classic.

4 Person Team: €200 per team

In association with Arklow Shipping.

As we celebrate 200 years of the RNLI, we would encourage golfers, clubs, societies, businesses and supporters to get behind this fantastic event and help raise vital funds for our volunteer lifeboat crew and the lifesaving service we provide to our community.

Arklow RNLI recently launched following a report of an upturned vessel sighted south of Arklow Harbour.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to join the team at Arklow Lifeboat Station.

We have vacancies for two important roles:

ALB Crew
Join our All Weather Lifeboat Crew and play a vital role in saving lives at sea. Crew members train regularly, attend exercises, respond to lifeboat shouts and help keep the lifeboat, station and equipment ready for service.

Applicants must live or work within 20 minutes of the station and be aged between 18 and 65. Training is provided.

Launch Authority
We are also looking for a volunteer Launch Authority to help manage the day-to-day readiness of the station, authorise lifeboat launches and provide leadership when required.

Applicants should live or work close to the station, be aged between 18 and 70, and have good communication and leadership skills, along with local maritime knowledge. Training is provided.

A Message from Mary Nolan Hickey

A little update on the fundraiser for Arklow RNLI.

Following my e-bike cycle from Maynooth to Galway and back over the May Bank Holiday weekend, the fundraiser for Arklow RNLI remains open.

Arklow RNLI is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, making it the oldest lifeboat station in Ireland. The vital work carried out by the RNLI relies on the generosity and support of people like you.

Due to a technical issue with the original fundraising page, donations made through it were automatically refunded. A new GoFundMe page was subsequently set up, and if you would still like to support this wonderful cause, donations are very welcome.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support the vital work of Arklow RNLI.

A huge thank you from everyone at Arklow RNLI to Sahara Bbq’s & Patio Heaters in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, for their incredibly generous sponsorship of our brand-new BBQ hot plate.

We have just collected our new BBQ hot plate and are absolutely delighted with it. It will be a fantastic addition to our station and will no doubt get plenty of use at future RNLI events and gatherings.

This wonderful donation was made to help us celebrate the 200th anniversary of the opening of Arklow Lifeboat Station, which was the first RNLI lifeboat station to open in Ireland.

We are extremely grateful to Sahara BBQ for their generosity and for supporting Arklow RNLI as we celebrate this very special milestone in our station's history.

A huge thank you to everyone at Arklow Town FC for their incredibly generous donation of €200 to Arklow RNLI.

The club kindly chose to donate this week's Match 3 Lotto prize fund to support our volunteer lifeboat crew, a gesture that is greatly appreciated by everyone involved with Arklow RNLI.

We would also like to thank Arklow Town FC for their kind congratulations as we celebrate the RNLI's 200th anniversary. The continued support we receive from local clubs, businesses and our community helps ensure our volunteer crews can continue saving lives at sea.
