Our Heartfelt gratitude to Arklow Methodist Church for 2 very generous donations to our service, both donations were lodged in Ferrybank Butchers and used to purchase the meat for the meals. You wanted to give something back and we are humbled that you chose Arklow Meals on Service. We had a lovely visit tonight from the Albatross Cub Scout pack, a wonderful group of young people with fantastic leaders armed with a lovely donation of Easter Eggs for all our meals on wheels recipients. Wonderful sincere young people showing such genuine care for those in our Community this Easter who will each recieve an Easter Egg thanks to them. Thank you to your parents, guardians and leaders for bringing up such wonderful respectful children, the adults of the future 🥰

To Waddington Europe for the wonderful Food Donation, to Gerry who called on behalf of The Tommy Byrne Photographic Society with the most generous donation of €630 raised by the Society at their Christmas Party and to Lisa who called with another generous donation of €200 on behalf of the Children's Disability Team based in the Arklow Primary Care Centre, who held a coffee morning before Christmas, we say a huge thank you to you all for choosing Arklow Meals on Wheels. We have bought extra food and some fuel which was delivered before Christmas and we will do another food shop to be delivered to people in January . We are truly blessed to have such kindness, care, love and support for our elderly, ill and housebound 🥰

Arklow Credit Union what can we say that shows how grateful we are to you all and your wonderful customers. Second year we are delighted to have been chosen as the recipients of the Arklow Credit Unions community project for Christmas. Many many thanks to everyone who supported this appeal, to the staff for the hard work setting it all up and checking on it, these things don't manage themselves. We had some very happy people who recieved bags of food along with the Christmas Dinner, and all thanks to our wonderful Community . Look out for the elderly, unwell and housebound during these cold days of Winter when sometimes the sadness can set in for many after the madness of Christmas. " We need to be looking out for each other, not at each other " 🥰

Christmas Dinner 2025, our heartfelt thanks to Ferrybank Butchers Chris, Ken, Vivienne and team ,for the more than generous donation once again this year of turkeys and hams to the Annual Christmas Dinner for Arklow Meals on Wheels, also delivered to those referred to us from Alone and Social Workers, as so many we don't realise are home alone for the Christmas period, the dinner was cooked and delivered by volunteers and recieved with much happiness and gratitude by all. It's the kind deeds like these that are done so willingly year in, year out that show the true meaning of Community and its goodness. It's about doing things together that makes belonging matter. Christmas Dinner and Dessert looked top class, as always, all cooked, served and delivered by our amazing team of Volunteers 🥰

Our gratitude once again this year to Arklow Credit Union for what's become the Annual instore Food Appeal for Arklow Meals on Wheels , where all year our wonderful team of volunteers cook and deliver delicious and nutritious meals to the sick, elderly, housebound and those convalesing. At Christmastime we are aware of the many extra struggles placed on people to keep warm etc so we aim to help them out with a bag or two of non perishsble food items. We also work alongside Alone this time of year too to ensure those living alone and or feeling isolated and overwhelmed are made feel as much love as possible. The food appeal takes place in the local branch and huge thanks to Shell Bell for the co-ordination of this, leaving no stone unturned. Its people like yourselves that help us help others as much as possible, no matter how small you think your donation is, just remember it makes a huge difference. Thank you 🥰

The usual generous goodwill of so many groups and individuals in our wonderful community continues this Christmas with you all reaching out to help others who need a little cheer this year. Our elderly are such an important part of community life and certainly deserve the attention and care so many of you are willing to provide this year. With the possibility of a very cold few months ahead we owe it to them to offer a helping hand . We thank you as always as without your kindness, concern, love , support and care we wouldn't be able to reach out to provide that extra help to them. Kick starting our christmas with more to follow is Avondale Veterinary and we are very grateful 🥰

Yesterday we visited the T. Y and L.C.V.P students at Arklow CBS , to do two things, firstly to thank them most sincerely for the generous donation of €1100 to us from their Christmas Trade Fair for our Christmas Appeal that enabled us to provide non perishable store cupboard food items, some treats and fuel for the elderly for which we are most grateful. We were also presented with €164.65 by T.Y. student Ross Doyle, this was donated from the 'T.Y Mini World Cup fundraiser held at the school. 🙏 Secondly we spent almost an hour with the students telling them about the service, the importance of it in the Community, how the service works so well and managed and run totally by Volunteers, up to 70 at this stage, for which we are very proud of. Some students had questions for us, and we hope we answered them with the information they required. What a lovely welcome we got, from the girls in the office, to the hospitality and chats in the staffroom , Principal Mr. Peter Somers, and last but by no means least, our gratitude to Mr. Murphy, Ms. Monaghan, Majella Myler and a fantastic, respectful, well mannered group of students. You are all a credit to your families, your school and teachers and to yourselves. We had a lovely visit and hope ye enjoyed it as much as we did. Your care for our older generation has meant so much to us as a Service and to the people who recieved the goodies . This photo we took as we entered the school, I think the words say it all . As we prepare to say farewell to 2024 and prepare to welcome in 2025 we at Arklow Meals on Wheels wish to Salute the team at Arklow Credit Union for the Christmas Food Appeal they held for the month of December . Grateful thanks to Shelley Menton, Agata, Lisa and everyone involved in this most generous gesture that saw Credit Union staff, members and the general public drop in donations of food that filled the trolleys provided on site, donations of food , cash and vouchers that Arklow Meals on Wheels were humbled to recieve Christmas Week just in time to be bagged up along with other wonderful donations and delivered along with the Christmas Dinner to the elderly. Thank you Arklow Credit Union for showing so much kindness, care and support for your community, it certainly is so beautiful any time but at Christmas time when so many struggle for whatever reason it is all about doing something together that makes belonging matter. Over the years we get some great chats from the older generation and often times we might randomly ask them if they have any advice for the younger generation considering the years of genuine struggle , hard work , dedication and love for family they lived through and listening to some of the advice is something we all should heed, “travel, make memories, no second chances, always be kind, look on the bright side of every situation” some lovely words of advice from a much loved generation , and with so much love and passion we at Arklow Meals on Wheels have for the elderly, the illl, and those who struggle at times with living alone,it is with no surprise at all we can make this wonderful post of some of the donations we recieved this Christmas from yourselves, Community, Schools, groups, individuals and so much more. So many don’t want recognition, they just simply wish to give back and give praise that they are able to help. This Christmas Season Arklow Meals on Wheels gratitude goes out to everyone who played there part in making Christmas 2024 a much brighter happier time for so many. To the young people, the sponsors, the groups, who supported us, Mark Corcoran ASL Safety and Training Arklow for the huge donation of foodstuffs, Tommy Byrne Photographic Society for cash that was turned into food and fuel, Albatross Cub Scouts for the wonderful array of food , Arklow CBS for the cash that was turned into food and fuel, Lillian Hudson and all at Hudson Haulage who donated Vouchers in memory of John , Arklow Bridgewater for the annual food appeal, Merck , Servier, Waddington Europe, Pilgrim Foods, Rosaleen for the 50 beautiful gift bags, Stephen Hurley Fitness for the annusl food drive donation and for every donation given to us that has helped others in so many ways. To the people who help us year in, year out, week in, week out, we can’t do it without your help, care and support. We have had a wonderful year and we approach 2025 with much excitement and enthusiasm. To our fantastic crew of nearly 70 volunteers who work tirelessly all year round , you are a credit to yourselves, your Community and those who need you. To Darina for her patience and understanding and to all involved in the running of the Pipeband Hall, we appreciate you all. All the best to everyone for 2025.

To Ferrybank Butchers Our heartfelt thanks to Chris, Ken and Vivienne for the more than generous donation once again this year of turkeys and hams to the Annual Christmas Dinner for Arklow Meals on Wheels which was cooked and delivered Christmas Eve and recieved with much happiness and gratitude by all. These guys are the epitome of Community and goodness. I think you will all agree the meal delivered to everyone for Christmas looked top class, all cooked, served and delivered by our amazing team of Volunteers 🥰
