Loki is doing much much better by now,
but he did have a rough first few days of recovery after his dental surgery.

I was watching him around the clock so not much sleep was had, not there really is with a nursing baba 🫠

All that to say, thankfully nothing sinister was found in his ultrasound scans bar the very early onset of kidney disease that had been picked up on through his blood work at Allcare Veterinary Surgery - we did find out that he had only been born with one kidney though which was fascinating!

So for right now, we are managing his condition through his diet 🤞

No sooner is Astra home, but our eldest dog Loki has been kept in at Allcare Veterinary Surgery after a routine dental uncovered a lot of problems 😔 my 14yr old OG is quite ill & I feel responsible for not noticing it sooner 😔
One of our other chihuahua’s, Jaxon, is also in for a Dental and I’m just praying that it goes smoothly 🙏

This just solidifies the decision we made recently in downsizing here because ultimately we are responsible first and foremost for the individuals within our four walls, and most especially the ones who have been with us longest ❤️‍🩹

After 5 nights at Cú Chulainn Veterinary Hospital, Astra is home 🤞
She is still pretty weak, but seems happy to be back.
Will update when her final lab report comes in to see if we can get a diagnosis.

🚨 THAT CUTE LITTLE KITTEN YOU BOUGHT IN APRIL… COULD ALREADY BE A MUM OR DAD. 🚨

Remember that tiny, fluffy kitten you brought home in April?
The one who was small enough to fit in your hand? 🥹🐾

Well… that kitten has grown up.

And if you haven’t had them neutered yet, there is a very real possibility that your cute little baby is now capable of making babies of their own.

🐱 Female cats can become pregnant from around 4 months old.

🐱 Male cats can become sexually mature from around 4–5 months — and yes, they are out there doing their bit to keep the population growing. 🙈

So that adorable kitten you bought in April could potentially already be mummy or daddy to a whole new litter.

And before you think “Oh, mine wouldn’t go outside”…

Cats don’t need to be roaming for an unwanted pregnancy to happen.
An entire male and female living together can be enough.

And please don’t wait for a female to have “just one litter.” There are already far too many unwanted kittens needing homes.
