Nature's Tiny Teamwork
Bees and ladybugs work together to keep the hive safe, strong, and healthy.
Ladybugs help by eating aphids and other harmful pests that can damage plants and food sources.
Bees support entire ecosystems through pollination, helping flowers, fruits, and crops thrive.
This natural partnership shows how small insects use intelligence and cooperation to create a healthier world without chemicals.

Gentle Bumblebee Wisdom
Bumblebees don’t want to sting you. They raise a leg in gentle warning rather than attack β€” true gentle giants of the garden.
Leave them be. They’re not interested in you.
These fuzzy pollinators are vital to our world β€” one bumblebee can visit over 5,000 flowers a day, quietly supporting the beauty and food we all depend on. Their peaceful nature reminds us that true strength lies in kindness, not aggression.
Respect the bee. Protect the garden. ❀️

🌼 National Tidy Towns judging begins at the start of June, and like every other town in the country, we have no idea when judges may arrive. That means our volunteers are working flat out right now β€” giving up their free time, evenings, and weekends to complete projects, prepare flowerbeds, tidy every corner of the town, and present our community at its absolute best in the hope of retaining the πŸ… Gold Medal we worked so hard to achieve last year.

😑 So imagine our disgust and heartbreak on Wednesday evening when volunteers arrived at the shortcut flowerbed to w**d and water newly planted flowers, only to discover that two plants had been deliberately ripped out and thrown beside the bed. Those plants could not be saved.

πŸ’” Then last night, while out watering again, another two plants had been destroyed.

❓What is wrong with people?

πŸ‘ Volunteers are out in all weather, all year round, trying to make our town a place everyone can enjoy and be proud of β€” and this is the thanks they get. Not only does this vandalism cost money πŸ’Έ to replace the plants, it also destroys the time, effort, and goodwill of people who give their services for absolutely nothing.

πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And yet, when it comes time to form committees or look for volunteers, people wonder why groups struggle to keep going.

πŸ™ Please think before destroying something β€œfor the laugh.” Show some respect for your town and for the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep it looking beautiful for everyone.

🌺 Instead of tearing things apart, let’s work together, support one another, and keep our town looking its very best. πŸ’š

🐝🌼 Happy World Bee Day! 🌼🐝

Today we celebrate the tiny pollinators that play a massive role in our ecosystem and food supply. Bees are responsible for pollinating around one-third of the food we eat, helping fruits, vegetables, flowers, and crops thrive. 🍎🌻

Beyond producing honey, bees support biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems, and contribute billions to global agriculture each year. Protecting bees means protecting our planet and future generations.

You can help by:
🌱 Planting bee-friendly flowers
🚫 Avoiding harmful pesticides
πŸ’§ Leaving fresh water out for pollinators
🏑 Supporting local beekeepers and sustainable farming

Every small action makes a difference. Let’s work together to keep our bees buzzing! πŸ’›

Today we installed our second dog poo bag and bin station along the Railway Walk 🐾

These stations make it easier for dog owners to clean up after their dogs while out enjoying a walk. If your dog poos on the path, grass, or anywhere along the route, it should always be picked up and disposed of responsibly.

Many people don’t realise that dog poo is more than just unpleasant β€” it can contain harmful bacteria and parasites that may affect wildlife, other dogs, and even people. Even in forests, fields, or quiet natural areas, dog waste should never be left behind.

Dog poo can take up to a year to fully break down. In the meantime, rain can wash waste into drains and streams, polluting rivers and other natural water sources.

By simply picking up after our four-legged friends, we can all help keep the Railway Walk clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone 🌿🐢

Please bag it, bin it, and help protect our environment.
