Photo of our chairman at the last President Tree planting for President Michael D Higgins in 2014. President Higgins planted a willow. What will our current President plant? Did you know that the Neighbourhood Park is part of the 1% Native Irish woodlands. It has a diverse mix of trees - oak, ash, hazel, holly, etc. and contains a wealth of plants like bluebell, bugle, primrose, wood anemone, and wood avens. It also is home to many native animals that we have seen pygmy shrews, red squirrels, badgers, and pine martens. Lots of fungi there too! Last Wednesday, we had another great evening of work , chat, friendship, and comraderie in making a start in the enhancement of the grounds of Ardagh Heritage Centre. Did you know that there are three trees in the garden, the neighbourhood park, planted by presidents of Ireland and another in the grounds of the convent. Time for another presidential visit? The neighbourhood park is also part of the tiny 1% of native woodland in the country. # Ardagh News Ardagh Moydow Reaching Out Ardagh Preservation Society Creative Ardagh Lyons Pubs Ardagh Ltd. We had a wet morning but looks like it's brightening up for the evening. We will all work together around the heritage centre. Some shrub pruning, weeding and sweeping. If the rain returns we will give the evening a miss.

This evening weather permitting we are going to work on the road from the green at the Moor up to the village - cutting back briars etc coming over the wall, tidy around gates, clean signs, any other areas needing attention. All are welcome, particularly those living on the road, and we can have a proper meitheal. Ardagh News Ardagh Moydow Reaching Out Ardagh Preservation Society Creative Ardagh Lyons Pubs Ardagh Ltd. We were delighted to be well represented at this last Wednesday and met lots of other Tidy Towns groups from Longford and beyond. Lots of great information, a great demo by Michael Masterson-Haggard and we met up with friends we hadn't seen in ages. Thanks to Drumlish Tidy Towns for hosting it, EDI for being the lead in this project and Hugh for arranging it and getting us involved.

Well done to all involved!
