Rifka Annisa

Rifka Annisa Rifka Annisa, which means "women's friend" is first women's crisis center in Indonesia that was established in August 26, 1993.

This center was established through the courage of several women activist who wanted to provide support for women survivor of violence. The idea to establish this center emerges from a deep concern upon the tendencies of patriarchal culture, which empower man and weakening women position on the other side. As the result, women are become more and more fragile to abuse such as r**e, sexual harassme

nts, domestic violence, and so on. But even as the problems become more visible, there is no any organization or institution, which provide an assistance and support for the women survivor of violence as well as become someone they can turn to. Goals
• Provide a close assistance to the women survivor of violence
• Conduct a program to socialize the violence against women issue and the problem of gender inequality to the community.
• Conduct a strategic movement to achieve a significant change in some policies
Vision
Violence against throughout the lifecycle is human right infringement, This violence against women cannot be tolerated. Mission
Rifka Annisa is a group of women and men, which provide support for survivor of domestic violence, r**e, sexual harassment, dating violence and violence within the family. Rifka Annisa provides advocacy for gender-based violence through a human right approach, survivor perspective and male involvement approach. Programs:
Women Service Division:
• Group Meeting to share experiences and to analyze problem together.

• Integrated services: Besides receiving assistance from Rifka Annisa, survivors able to report their case directly to the Special Services Room (RPK or Ruang Pelayanan Khusus), which are located in every single police office under DIY Police Department jurisdiction. They may also receive specialized medical care from the Women's Services Unit (UPP or Unit Pelayanan Perempuan) in Panti Rapih Hospital Yogyakarta. Education and Training Division :
• Conduct lectures, discussions, seminars, workshops and training on the problem of violence against women and gender justice. These services are provided for various community groups.

• Facilitate independent groups to work with women survivor of violence.

• Staff Development


Research and Development Division :
• Conduct a research into issues of women and violence.

• Center Development. Public Relation Division :
• Establish networks with both government organizations (police, legal practitioners, religious legal systems, justice and court systems, hospitals and so on), and non-government organizations in the interest of assisting women survivors of violence.

• Conduct a campaign for gender justice and anti-violence against women through various publication and media.

• Manage the library and institution documentation



Men's Program Division

The division conduct counseling towards perpetrator of domestic violence and promote new masculinity for men through men involvement in eliminating violence against women for gender equality.
