EQUALITA was established in November 25, 2015 under the name of Perkumpulan EQUALITA, ever since, its focus has been on youth exposed to injustice and their opportunities to change their situation. In fact, 90% of our members are under the age of 30, we believe that young people are both the present and the future of the struggle for child and women’s rights. We promote young leaders in the global
women’s rights movement and our young activism program cuts across all aspects of our work. At the same time, by defining young activists as one of our priority areas, we contribute new analysis to current debates and ensure that young activists are able to articulate their priorities and voice their concerns. We are a non profit organisation that supports the collective power of young leaders to create a better world. We want to proactively shift power to ensure every young activist is able to lead and create a better world. We are feminist, inclusive, gender transformative and anti-racist in our work. We recognise the barriers that women, girls, non-binary people, people living with disabilities, and young people of different ethnicities, religion and sexual preferences face in the communities in which we work. Our members are part of a powerful base of feminist, girls and women’s rights and gender justice defenders, activists and allies, connecting, exchanging, learning and acting together for transformative change. We mobilise girls and their allies at scale, modelling new beliefs and shifting cultural conversations in community at large. EQUALITA envisions a just world that promotes and protects human rights, gender equality and the integrity of the environment. Women and girls around the world are demanding and creating systemic change and a sustainable future for all.
