Yesterday, our team provided education to the youth of the village of Posi-Posi Rao on the beach. This time, it was about the mangrove trees on the island and their function. The name of the village, ‘Posi Posi’, refers to a type of mangrove with drooping roots that grows along the coast. The local people call it soki soki🌱💚📚🌏

Recently, our team visited the neighboring village of Leo-Leo Rao for the first time to provide education to the children at the SMP. It was a wonderful day. The children took to it well. This was just the beginning. We will be back soon. 📚💪🏾🌱💚♻️

Last week, our team visited the primary school in Aru Burung again. This time, the children received instruction on using ecobricks.

An ecobrick is a plastic bottle securely filled with non-recyclable plastic waste, such as clean, dry plastic bags or packaging. It’s used as a reusable building block for various applications, such as building furniture, walls, and gardens, and helps keep plastic waste out of the environment and out of regular recycling.

At the end of last month, the team went to the village of Aru Burung on Pulau Rao for the first time. There, too, we taught primary school children what Miadodara entails and how to deal with plastic waste and protect our environment. We received positive feedback from the principal and teachers. We will soon return to Aru Burung for a follow-up. 🙏🏾💪🏾💚🌱♻️📚🐠🌊🏔️

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, work was halted for a while, but fortunately, the team resumed last month. This time, they had a visitor from the Netherlands. They attended an afternoon of education at the primary school in Posi Posi Rao. Despite the power outage, the Miadodara team continued the education. During their stay in Posi Posi Rao, they symbolically presented an amount raised through crowdfunding to Miadodara Pulau Rao. While small steps have already been taken, it remains clear that education about plastic waste and the environment is desperately needed.📚🎋🐟🌱⛰️💚🙏🏾💪🏾
