By creating opportunities for policymakers and experts to exchange experiences, compare approaches, and learn from one another.

At the 17th AQRF Committee Meeting in Bangkok, the EU-funded Sustainable Connectivity Package โ€“ Higher Education (SCOPE-HE) shared updates on its ongoing work supporting ASEAN priorities in quality assurance and qualifications frameworks.

The presentation highlighted recent and upcoming activities, including ASEANโ€“EU comparability studies, peer learning workshops, technical dialogue, and a new study on the ratification and implementation of the Tokyo and Global Conventions on the Recognition of Qualifications. Together, these initiatives contribute to knowledge exchange between ASEAN and European experts and support ongoing regional cooperation on qualifications recognition, quality assurance and mobility.

SCOPE-HE also shared how these activities are aligned with ASEAN policy priorities, including the Roadmap towards an ASEAN Higher Education Space and the implementation of the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework (AQRF).

We appreciate the opportunity to exchange perspectives with the AQRF Committee and regional partners and look forward to continuing our collaboration in support of ASEAN-led higher education cooperation.

Bringing together higher education leaders, policymakers and international partners, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on five years of innovation while exploring how collaboration can continue to strengthen higher education across Indonesia, ASEAN and beyond.

For SCOPE-HE, such occasions are valuable opportunities to connect with partners, exchange ideas and contribute to strengthening regional cooperation in higher education.

Earlier this month, the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package for Higher Education (SCOPE-HE) held an implementation planning meeting with the Indonesia Cyber Education Institute (ICE-I) and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMEO SEAMOLEC) to align the next phase of the regional study on the implementation of the UNESCO Tokyo and Global Conventions on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education in ASEAN.

The discussions focused on upcoming stakeholder consultations, validation workshops, coordination mechanisms, and communication and visibility arrangements that will support the successful implementation of the study. Together, these efforts contribute to stronger qualifications recognition systems and greater higher education connectivity across ASEAN.

Funded by the European Union, SCOPE-HE supports stronger higher education connectivity between ASEAN and Europe under the Global Gateway strategy.

The Cultural Heritage Scholarship Programme (CHSP) is an initiative funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs that brings together international talent and Dutch expertise to strengthen the future of cultural heritage. Through the programme, 21 students and young professionals from Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Suriname were awarded scholarships to pursue a specialised master's degree in the Netherlands.

Today, we're proud to highlight five CHSP alumni who are putting that knowledge into practice: Minal Wickrematunge, Made Naraya Lasmayuda Sumaniaka, Akaash Jhinkoe, Amos Constant, and Moh Masruhan. Their work spans decolonial research, archival preservation, heritage education, community engagement, and historical research, demonstrating how new perspectives and international collaboration can create lasting impact at home.
