Digital spaces shape how we connect and experience the world. 🌐

In our latest Pulse Talk blog, we share how we engaged in a form of innovative advocacy with Bookhive Indonesia to create a Pulse Talk x Bibliobattle collaboration.

The issues that we often discuss in our work can be complex, but by engaging through innovative forms of advocacy, such as a bibliobattle, we can make topics more accessible and easier to relate to.

Last year, the theme looked at books 📚 that advocate for safer digital spaces, especially for women and girls. Through books and reflection, participants explored experiences beyond their own and brought different perspectives to light.

While traditional forms of advocacy are still important, so are exploring new ways of engaging because creativity and storytelling don’t replace data or policy—they strengthen them.

Today is Labour Day.

Labour Day is traditionally about workers’ rights and protections. But today’s world of work is continuously and rapidly evolving—requiring better, faster, and more inclusive insights to ensure policies remain responsive to these changing needs.

At UN Global Pulse Asia Pacific, we believe that meaningful innovation should serve the people and strengthen the systems they rely on. In collaboration with .indonesia and , we are harnessing data and AI to help the Government of Indonesia to understand shifting labour dynamics, and surface emerging vulnerabilities and futures scenarios to ensure that even the most invisible workers are not left behind.

This Labour Day is a moment to reflect on how we can best support workers through transitions and uncertainty, towards a future of work that is more inclsuive, resilient and human-centred.

💭 What if inequality isn’t just about access to resources, but access to imagination?

In one of our recently published blogs, researcher Nok Boonmavichit explores how structural realities like poverty and instability don’t just shape outcomes—they shape what children believe is possible.

💡 And what does imagination have to do with innovation?

Imagination is the foundation of innovation. If only some get to freely imagine, when we look into data, tech, and innovative solutions to address global challenges, we should ask: whose futures are we building and who is being left out of imagining them?

Transportation is more than movement — it’s connection. 🚆🌏

On Indonesia’s National Transportation Day, we’re reflecting on how data can help make transport systems more responsive and people-centred.

Together with partners like and Jakarta Smart City , we’ve looked at commuter patterns to better understand how people move through the city — and where services can work better.

Better transport isn’t only about infrastructure. It’s also about how data and collaboration can improve everyday journeys.

On Kartini’s Day, we honor Raden Ajeng Kartini and her enduring commitment to expanding access and opportunity.

As AI and data reshape how the world understands and responds to change, the focus is not only on innovation—but on inclusion, responsibility, and impact.

At UN Global Pulse, we explore how real-time data and AI can support better decisions for people and communities everywhere.

How can today’s tools continue to open pathways for all?

We were honoured to participate in the FGD on the Sea Level Rise National Policy and Adaptive Infrastructure Development Workshop hosted by the . The workshop was opened by the Deputy for Coordination of Regional Development Equity, Agrarian Affairs, and Spatial Planning, Nazib Faizal, and our Regional Head of Office, Ahmed El Saeed.

We had the opportunity to present a white paper which details the results of our extensive co-creative process with the coordinating ministry. This white paper was shaped through multiple workshops, consultations, and FGDs, engaging more than 16 ministries, over 40 academic institutions, and a wide range of stakeholders. This process produced 13 policy recommendations to support the development of a strong, coordinated national policy to address the impacts of sea level rise, grounded in evidence, informed by local realities, and designed to be forward-looking and resilient.

We are grateful to work alongside the Government of Indonesia and all stakeholders involved in this important initiative, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration to translate these insights into action.
