Roshan is a safe learning space where refugees find hope in community and pursue brighter futures through education. Based in Jakarta,
Indonesia, we are a diverse learning community of over 150 students and over 50 volunteers and staff members. We are refugees, Indonesians, and other foreign nationals working together to create a place where people from all walks of life find hope, kindness, and life-changing relationships. Roshan is a program of Yayasan Internasional Cahaya Fajar (YICF), a non-profit organization that transforms lives through education, vocation, and community.

🌍 1, 2, 3... in how many languages? 🤔

Learning numbers became a global adventure as our students challenged themselves to count from 1 to 5 in different languages!

From familiar languages to new ones they had never heard before, the activity sparked curiosity, laughter, and lots of enthusiastic participation.

Through fun games like these, students build confidence, expand their cultural awareness, and discover just how connected our world can be. 💚

At Roshan, learning is always more fun when it feels like a game!

Students put their creativity and teamwork to the test by guessing words based on two pictures. ☀️ + 🕶️ = Sunglasses! Easy enough... but not every challenge was that simple. 😄

From quick guesses to lots of laughter, the activity encouraged critical thinking and communication while having fun together.

We proudly celebrated the graduation of our EOS and GED students, an important milestone made possible through perseverance, determination, and a commitment to learning. 📚

The Roshan community recently gathered at The American Club Jakarta for a special brunch and summer gathering filled with connection, conversation, and unforgettable memories. ☀️🍽️💙

Roshan staff, students, and supporters came together in a welcoming space to reconnect with familiar faces, build new friendships, and celebrate the strength of our community. 🤝✨

We had a live performance, fun and engaging games, and an inspiring story shared by members of our community. 🎤🎶🎲🌟 These moments brought laughter, encouragement, and a deeper appreciation for the journeys we have shared together.

A Day of Learning at

Roshan EOS Grade 7 students had the exciting opportunity to visit French School Jakarta! 🇫🇷✨

During their visit, students joined real classroom sessions, experiencing lessons in History, English, and Geography alongside peers in an international learning environment. It was a meaningful chance to explore new perspectives, practice their language skills, and build confidence beyond the classroom.

Moments like these open doors to new possibilities and inspire our students to keep learning, growing, and dreaming bigger 🌍📚

At Roshan, our students recently took part in GED practice tests. 📘✍️ These practice tests aren’t just about measuring progress but also about identifying strengths 💡 and understanding where more support is needed. 🤝

Through each question, our students are sharpening their critical thinking 🧠, strengthening core skills 📚, and becoming more familiar with the format of the official GED exam. 🎓

We’re proud of the focus, determination, and resilience 💪 shown by our students every step of the way. 🌟

Words, laughter, and a little friendly competition. 🌍🎤😂

What happens when English, Arabic, Tigrinya, and Persian all collide in one game? A little chaos… and a whole lot of fun. 😆✨

Our students took on a “language battle” challenge, thinking fast, switching languages, and trying not to laugh mid-sentence. 🤯🗣️ From quick-fire answers to the most unexpected ones, every moment was packed with energy, teamwork, and shared laughter. 🤝😂

Because sometimes, the best way to learn a language isn’t just to study… It’s to play, mix it up, and enjoy the moment. 🎮🌍💬

Our students took on the One Word Story challenge, with little laughter, surprises, and creativity at every turn. It’s amazing what can happen when everyone contributes just a single word.💡

🏸✨ Roshan Weekly Badminton is back!

We’re excited to be back on the court with our students, volunteers, and staff, sharing energy, teamwork, and lots of fun. It’s a great way to stay active, boost both physical and mental health, and enjoy time together beyond the classroom. 💪🌿

🌙✨Breaking Fast Together at Roshan✨🌙

There’s something special about sharing a meal after a day of fasting. At Roshan, our Iftar or “buka bersama” is more than just food on the table; it’s about togetherness, gratitude, and community.🤍

Roshan staff, volunteer teachers, and some neighbours from RT/RW gathered to break their fast, share stories, and enjoy simple moments that bring us closer. From laughter over meals, snacks and playing some fun games, every moment reminds us that we grow stronger when we grow together.

Ramadan teaches us compassion, patience, and the beauty of giving, values we strive to carry every day at Roshan.🌿
