Greetings from the WSCF AP Office in Jakarta!

The Paschal Mystery is the story of Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection—bringing salvation and new life.

Through the cross, we see love poured out.
In the silence, we learn to trust.
And in the empty tomb, we find hope restored.

May this Easter remind us that even in our darkest moments, God is still at work—bringing light, renewal, and life.

Happy Easter 🤍

Greetings!

This video is presented by GMKI (Indonesia SCM), highlighting the meaningful and concrete roles of women members in serving the nation and contributing to society. It tells the story of women who are volunteering as educators in the aftermath of devastating floods in Sumatra, Indonesia—offering not only knowledge, but also hope, care, and resilience to affected communities.

Their actions reflect a deep commitment to faith, justice, leadership, and solidarity, as well as an active role in advancing social responsibility and community empowerment. Through this, GMKI affirms the importance of recognizing and strengthening women’s leadership within the church, society, and the wider ecumenical movement.

WSCF Asia-Pacific invites all of us to stand in solidarity by keeping our brothers and sisters in Sumatra in our prayers, hoping for their strength, recovery, and restoration in the days ahead.

Lucy Jarasius from Australia SCM shares a powerful poetic reflection on the theme “Give to Gain.” Through vivid imagery and deep spiritual contemplation, Lucy challenges the common notion of giving merely to receive. Instead, her poem invites readers to rediscover hope as a gift already woven into creation—one that calls humanity to heal injustice, restore brokenness, and stand together in faith and love.
Drawing inspiration from biblical stories and the enduring strength of women across generations, Lucy reminds us that when hope is shared, it becomes a transformative force. In giving hope, she suggests, the world gains not only renewed faith but also the courage to rebuild communities and pursue justice for all.

📅 Wednesday, 21st January 2026

In Matthew 3, we encounter the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry— his baptism, the call to repentance, and God’s affirmation of the beloved Son. This passage invites the Church to reflect on its own identity and calling: to live in repentance, to prepare the way of the Lord, and to embody humility, justice, and faithfulness in the world.

Join us as we reflect on how the life and ministry of Jesus challenge and renew the Church today, calling us to deeper commitment and transformative witness.

Warm greetings!

Throughout this year, the Gospel came alive among us as students and young leaders across Asia and the Pacific gathered to pray, study, and commit ourselves to peace, justice, and dignity for all. In solidarity with communities who mourn in Myanmar, Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and beyond, we hold their pain in our prayers.

This Christmas, we trust in Emmanuel—God with us—to strengthen our movements to resist injustice, build peace, and embody hope for the year ahead.

Merry Christmas 2025 and Happy New Year 2026. May the coming year be filled with faith, courage, and renewed hope for a more just and peaceful world.

WSCF AP Bible Study
Matthew 2: “Kings, Refugees and Rachel’s Tears”

Join us on Wednesday, December 17 at 6:00 PM (Jakarta time) for a special Christmas reflection. We will journey through Matthew 2 to explore the clash between Herod’s violent power and Jesus’ vulnerable kingship, the refugee Christ fleeing political terror, and Rachel’s tears that echo in today’s cries from Gaza, Israel, Congo, Sudan, Myanmar, and Ukraine.

Together, we will reflect on how Matthew rereads Israel’s story—Exodus, exile, and return—through the child of Bethlehem and revisit the story of the three kings.

This Bible study webinar will explore how the genealogy of Jesus actually contains profound stories of injustice, vulnerability, and human resilience. By examining the historical and social contexts behind this passage, we uncover how the biblical narrative acknowledges the realities of gender-based violence rather than ignoring them.

Join us as we reflect deeply, engage thoughtfully, and strengthen our commitment to faith-based advocacy during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Everyone is welcome!

One of the important works of the World Student Christian Federation Asia-Pacific (WSCF AP) is movement building, strengthening our Student Christian Movements and nurturing solidarity among young people in the region.

Last month, the WSCF AP met with members of the Myanmar Student Christian Movement (SCM) who are now residing in Chiang Mai, Thailand, due to the situation in their country. The meeting was led by WSCF AP Regional Secretary, Yowanda, and WSCF Executive Committee member, Jacquelyn, with the support of former ExCo member and Myanmar SCM representative, Arr Wai, who helped organize the encounter.

Together, we listened to the realities faced by Myanmar SCM members and reflected on how the Federation can journey with them in these challenging times. The conversation opened space to explore future collaborations and concrete ways to support the movement’s work and the students’ ongoing witness of faith, hope, and resilience.

WSCF AP stands in solidarity with the youth and students of Myanmar, affirming our shared commitment to justice, peace, and the building of life-giving communities across the Asia-Pacific.

Follow our page for updates on the upcoming projects supporting the Myanmar SCM.
