The Habibie Center recently convened a public discussion titled “Baja Hijau Tanpa Pembeli? Peran Negara dalam Menciptakan Pasar (Green Steel without Buyer? The Role of State in Creating Market)” to explore how Indonesia can accelerate steel decarbonization while maintaining industrial competitiveness.
The discussion highlighted the importance of Green Public Procurement (GPP) as a strategic policy instrument to create demand for low-carbon steel and support industrial transformation.
To support this policy conversation, The Habibie Center has published a research report and a policy brief on the role of GPP in decarbonizing Indonesia’s steel sector.
