Concluding the SAFE RTD series, RTD #6—jointly convened with the European Forest Institute (EFI)— presented lessons learnt from EUDR preparedness exercises and conducted “dry runs”.
The voluntary simulation was conducted:
💻 Tested due diligence statement in the EU IT system
🌏 The transfer and adequacy of geolocation data
📃 The robustness of operators’ due diligence systems through structured exchanges with EU Competent Authorities.
The dialogue reflected insights collated from IT testing, documentation review, risk assessment, traceability to the plot level, and simulated inspections. RTD #6 also facilitates practical experience, promoting a shared understanding of implementation challenges, and encouraging the replication of effective approaches across supply chains and regions.

The SAFE project helps Indonesia and Malaysia transition to deforestation-free, EUDR-compliant supply chains for palm oil, rubber, and cocoa. A consortium featuring Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA)-Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), Partnership For Indonesia's Sustainable Agriculture (PISAgro), Cocoa Sustainability Partnership (CSP), and Solidaridad implemented the effort, providing technical assistance and financial access specifically for smallholder farmers. Through dialogues, field visits, and multistakeholder cooperation, the project tackles traceability and risk challenges—ensuring environmental safeguard is inclusive and economically viable for local producers, helping Indonesia & Malaysia go deforestation-free for palm, rubber, and cocoa.
