🎥 Looking back, moving forward.

In August 2025, the Katalis Program Showcase brought more than 600 participants to celebrate milestones, share ideas, and explore the future of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) in action.

Today, we’re excited to share a special video capturing that journey through the eyes of the businesses we have supported, the government partners we have worked alongside, and the Katalis team who made it happen ✨

From an internal initiative to a public resource 📚

How do you get a whole team on the same page about complex concepts? For Katalis, the answer was a weekly “GEDSI A to Z” series, curated by our Lead Adviser for Trade and GEDSI Holly Krueger.

The response was so positive that we’ve compiled it into a single guide. “GEDSI A to Z” breaks down the essentials of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in the context of trade.

We believe inclusive trade is the future, and it starts with shared understanding. We hope this guide empowers you to be part of it.

Indonesia has the nurses. Australia has the demand. So, what’s the missing link? 💊

A lack of awareness and recognition of the pathways and capabilities is preventing a thriving nurse mobility corridor between our two countries.

Our latest report, “The Existing Pathways for Indonesian Nurses to Practice in Australia”, cuts through the complexity. It provides a clear guide to the existing registration pathways and addresses key challenges such as the English language requirement.

This is a tangible step towards a more integrated and resilient health workforce for both Australia and Indonesia.

Think accessibility is a cost? Think again. It’s a massive market opportunity 🌴☀️

Our “Access Indonesia” pilot in Bali shows how low-cost, high-impact changes in communication can unlock the economic potential of an underserved market of travellers with disabilities, older adults, and families.

By partnering with hotels on better website info, staff training, and a simple digital tool, we helped them proudly showcase their accessibility features.

The result? Hotels were eager to lead and expand their customer base. The key was hands-on coaching to bridge the knowledge gap.

Our vision is to scale this model, cementing Bali as a regional leader in inclusive tourism.

Discover our key lessons and recommendations for scaling impact in the briefing paper “Unlocking Inclusive Travel: Katalis and Accessible Tourism in Bali”.

Unlocking international markets requires meeting strict biosecurity standards. For Indonesian horticulture, phytosanitary irradiation is the key to accessing high-value destinations like Australia 🤩✨

It was a privilege for Katalis Lead Adviser for Market Integration Robert Budianto to support the recent Australia Awards in Indonesia Post-Course workshop “Improving Indonesia’sCapacity to Regulate Irradiation Treatment Providers for Horticultural Exports” in Surabaya from 11 to 13 November, which aimed to boost national capacity in this critical area. The course included a visit to Katalis business beneficiary, PT Energi Sterila Higiena (STERINA).

Our collaboration with STERINA involved a critical facility assessment and staff training, paving the way towards seeing more high-quality Indonesian fruits on Australian shelves. A great example of partnership driving tangible trade outcomes.

Indonesia is a coffee powerhouse, yet its exports to Australia’s thriving specialty market remain untapped ☕

Katalis is proud to be leading a comprehensive bilateral value chain analysis of the coffee sector, identified as a priority by the Government of Indonesia, to unlock this potential. Our goal: boost Indonesian coffee exports and explore new investment opportunities between these two close neighbours.

Katalis Director Paul Bartlett presented insights from Katalis’s latest report “Unlocking Indonesia-Australia Investment” at the IABC Business Breakfast in Jakarta (12/11). The event also marked the launch of the 2025 Australian Business in Southeast Asia Survey by AustCham ASEAN and featured a panel discussion with Australian Business Champion to Indonesia Prof Jennifer Westacott AC and Indonesian Vice Minister for Investment and Downstream Industry Todotua Pasaribu 🤩✨

Both reports reflect strong and sustained optimism in the Indonesia-Australia economic partnership, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) and its formal review. The Katalis study underscores Indonesia’s solid investment fundamentals, identifying key opportunities for Australian investors and a clear roadmap for the years ahead.

Grateful to Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia Gita Kamath and Australian Ambassador to ASEAN Tiffany Macdonald for hosting such a timely and action-oriented discussion.

In Q2 2025, bilateral goods trade reached USD 2.9 billion, up 6% from the previous quarter, showing continued momentum even as year-on-year figures eased slightly.

Tourism continues to shine as Indonesia’s top service export to Australia, with 813,000 Australian in Q2, a 7%-increase from the same period last year.

On investment, Australian FDI realisation in Indonesia totalled USD 121.4 million, down from Q1, but still 8% higher YoY, reflecting steady investor confidence in Indonesia’s economy.
