The essence of qurban lies not only in sacrifice, but also in the willingness to share, uplift, and stand in solidarity with those in need. As communities around the world continue to celebrate the values embodied by Eid al-Adha, acts of compassion serve as a powerful reminder that humanity grows stronger when we care for one another.

Reflecting this spirit, AIDA under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in collaboration with OIC Youth Indonesia and supported by Wakaf Al Azhar and Rumah Wakaf Indonesia, distributed 500 qurban meat packages to communities in Bogor and Sukabumi Regencies, West Java. Through this initiative, the values of generosity and social responsibility were translated into meaningful action, while further strengthening the bonds of friendship and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Indonesia.

COMMEMORATING PANCASILA BIRTH DAY
June 1, 2026

It is an important moment to commemorate the birth of the state philosophy that serves as a guideline for national and state life. Pancasila is not merely a symbol, but also a noble value that teaches unity, tolerance, mutual cooperation, and justice for all Indonesian people.

Amidst the diversity of ethnicities, religions, cultures, and languages, Pancasila is a force that unites the nation in the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity). As the youth, it is our responsibility to uphold and practice the values of Pancasila in our daily lives, both on campus, in society, and as a nation.

Eid al-Adha carries many valuable lessons, including sacrifice, sincerity, patience, obedience, and the spirit of sharing with others. On this occasion, Muslims are encouraged to perform the sacrificial ritual (qurban) and undertake the pilgrimage of Hajj for those who are able.

One of the main acts of worship during the month of Dhulhijjah is the sacrifice of livestock. This act is not merely an annual tradition, but also a direct command from Allah SWT that holds deep spiritual meaning. In Surah Al-Kawthar verse 2, Allah says: “So pray to your Lord and sacrifice.” This verse emphasizes that qurban is a form of gratitude for Allah’s blessings and a symbol of complete devotion and obedience to Him.

On this day, Muslims sacrifice animals such as goats, cows, or camels as an act of worship and submission to Allah SWT. The meat is then distributed to family members, neighbors, and those in need so that the joy of Eid al-Adha can be shared by everyone. This practice also carries strong social values, as it teaches compassion, fairness, and generosity.

Furthermore, the meaning of sacrifice during Dhulhijjah is not limited to the slaughtering of animals. It also reminds Muslims to sacrifice negative traits that distance them from Allah SWT. Every Muslim is encouraged to let go of selfishness, greed, and laziness as part of true sacrifice in life.

Happy Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah

OIC Youth Indonesia attended the 78th Commemoration of Nakba Day hosted by the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Indonesia on 18 May 2026.

Nakba Day, annually observed every 15 May, commemorates the beginning of the humanitarian tragedy and displacement experienced by the Palestinian people since 1948. The commemoration served as a reminder of the importance of humanity, justice, solidarity, and the collective call for lasting peace and freedom for Palestine.

From May 10–12, 2026, youth delegates from OIC Youth Indonesia proudly participated in the Opening Ceremony of the OIC Youth Capital Konya 2026, held in the spiritually and historically rich city of Konya.

Representing Indonesia on this international stage were Astrid Nadya Rizqita (President of OIC Youth Indonesia) and Nur Ghina Muslimah (Representing the Central Board of Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam).

More than a ceremonial gathering, this event became a meaningful platform for young leaders to exchange ideas, strengthen solidarity, and foster collaborations that transcend borders, cultures, and backgrounds. It reaffirmed the belief that youth are not only the future of the Muslim world, but also active contributors to building a more peaceful, inclusive, and interconnected global society.

As Indonesia continues to promote the values of moderation, tolerance, and constructive dialogue, the presence of its youth delegates in Konya symbolizes a shared hope: that international friendship and mutual understanding can become the foundation for lasting peace and collective progress among nations.

From pesantren to international dialogue forums, Indonesia continues to show the world that peace begins with understanding. Ms. Astrid Nadya Rizqita (President of OIC Youth Indonesia) participated as a delegate of the Republic of Indonesia in the International Conference on Governance of Religious Diversity: Comparing Models, Sharing Best Practices, and Deepening Bilateral and International Cooperation for Peaceful Coexistence, organized by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and University of Vienna in Vienna.

Through interfaith dialogue, youth diplomacy, and the spirit of tolerance, we are building bridges beyond borders, cultures, and beliefs. A reminder that diversity is not a reason for division, but a strength to create a more peaceful and humane world.

Together, let’s turn dialogue into action, and tolerance into a global movement for peace.

National Awakening Day commemorates the founding of Boedi Oetomo in 1908, marking the beginning of Indonesia’s modern national awakening and the rise of collective consciousness among its people.

This day reminds us that the strength of a nation lies not only in its history, but also in the commitment of its young generation to continue building a future grounded in humanity, solidarity, and positive change.

OIC Youth Indonesia believes that youth play a vital role in fostering collaboration, empowering communities, and promoting peace and dignity both nationally and globally. Through shared values and collective action, may we continue becoming a generation that inspires hope and meaningful impact for all.
