The Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) is a student-run, non-profit and non-political organization comprising 16 National Chapters: Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Each National Chapter under ALSA comprises its respective Local Chapters within Asia’s top universities and law facult
ies. Our network of 12000+ members and observers are continue to grow each year with the possible inclusions of the following countries in the near future: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Cambodia, and Azerbaijan. The key visions of ALSA include 1) focusing on a global vision of the promising future of Asia; 2) promoting awareness of justice and the rule of law across Asia, and 3) facilitating the recognition of social responsibilities amongst law students in Asia. ALSA is constantly progressing towards understanding and appreciating the diversity between various legal jurisdictions across Asia. ALSA serves as a platform for Asian law students to share the ideals of law in society through exchange and communication. Our activities motivate law students to develop a creative and cohesive spirit within the network and enhance their capabilities to become internationally minded, socially responsible, academically committed, and legally skilled. ALSA’s key events are the annual ALSA Conference held in January or February, and the ALSA Forum held each August or September. At each event, ALSA members engage in discussions focused around a central legal theme and are often exposed to inter-cultural activities and various institutions of the host country’s legal system. Furthermore, ALSA is regularly invited to participate in, and observe, events by our Partner Law Students’ Associations, which include the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA), the Dominican Republic Law Students' Association (DLSA), the New Zealand Law Students' Association (NZLSA) and the Australian Law Students’ Association (AusLSA).
