Ngedip dikit kok udah pertengahan tahun aja?! 👀

Hampir tiap hari mainan sama anjing kucing perwakilan berbagai kabupaten emang jadi lupa waktu.

Terimakasih bulan Mei, bulan Juni bring it on! 💥

Somewhere between early morning coffees ☕, preparing surgical packs, chasing dogs that suddenly decided to become escape artists 🐕💨, and hearing owners call their pets in the cutest voices imaginable… this week somehow turned into a total of 130 animals sterilised across Gianyar and Karangasem 🎉

And honestly, that number would not have been possible without the support from Saga’s Legacy, who helped sponsor two of our sterilisation programs this week 🤍 Thank you for helping these programs continue to run and giving more animals access to sterilisation services across Bali. Every bit of support truly goes straight back into the field, and this week was another reminder of how much can happen when people choose to help

If anyone would like to support future programs, donations can be made here:

This week was also filled with so many small moments that made long field days feel extra rewarding. Owners proudly introducing their pets to us, puppies waiting around just to accompany their siblings, cats acting brave until the second they spotted the carrier again, and all the random little interactions in between that somehow make every program memorable in its own way.

Even after doing this so many times, it still feels special seeing how much people genuinely care for their animals. Some owners arrived nervous, some came overprepared with blankets, snacks, and nicknames we definitely won’t forget, and some simply stayed nearby the whole time just to make sure their pets felt safe.

Alongside the sterilisation program, we were also very happy to carry out rabies vaccinations this week with support from the local authorities in Karangasem. Thank you for helping the program run smoothly and for continuing to support rabies prevention efforts across Bali 🤍

Weeks like this are exhausting, chaotic, loud, unpredictable… but also the kind of week that reminds us exactly why we keep going ✨

A huge thank you to Sara Skjoldborg-Chapple for sponsoring and supporting part of this week’s programs as part of her birthday celebration 🎂🐾 We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for helping us continue reaching more animals through our sterilisation programs this week 🤍

147 animals were successfully sterilised in one week 🐾✂️

This week was filled with early mornings, crowded registration tables, barking dogs, confused cats, owners arriving with carriers, baskets, cages, boxes, and honestly… anything that could somehow transport an animal 😭

Every program always comes with its own chaos. One minute the waiting area feels completely calm, the next minute three dogs are barking at each other, a cat escapes from a carrier, and someone is dramatically calling their animal’s name from across the room like they’re filming a soap opera 🤣 There’s always at least one very angry cat, one dog trying to make friends with everyone, and one owner insisting their animal is “normally very quiet” while the entire room proves otherwise.

Behind all the funny moments, long days, and field chaos, something incredibly important was achieved this week.

147 animals received a sterilisation procedure.
That means fewer unwanted litters, fewer animals ending up abandoned, and fewer future struggles for both animals and communities. Every single program helps create long-term change little by little 🤍

If you’d like to help us continue reaching more animals through our sterilisation programs, donations can be made through our website below.

(Donations over $2 made through our donation page are tax deductible.)

Thank you as well to our entire team, local authorities, community members, and everyone continuing to support these programs from beginning to end 🐾

We'd like to kick off this week's report by thanking Sara Skjoldborg-Chapple and I Rescue Bali Dog for their support and sponsorship 🫶🏻

This week, our team successfully sterilised 93 animals and provided rabies vaccinations to 109 more.

Something we noticed while working in the field this week was just how many mum dogs we came across. Some were already caring for puppies, some were pregnant, and others were in heat. It felt like every program brought another reminder of how quickly animal populations can grow when sterilisation isn’t easily accessible.

Many of these animals have owners who care deeply about them but may not always have easy access to sterilisation services. That's why bringing these programs directly into communities remains such an important part of our work. Every appointment helps prevent future unwanted litters and creates a healthier future for both animals and the people who care for them.

If you'd like to help us continue providing free sterilisation programs across Bali, please consider making a donation. Every contribution helps us reach more animals and communities in need.

While puppies and kittens are undeniably adorable, we also know that many litters are born without guaranteed homes, medical care, or enough resources to support them. Over time, this can contribute to growing free-roaming populations and place additional pressure on communities. Sterilisation remains one of the most effective and humane ways to address this challenge before it begins.

As we wrap up the final week of May, we're grateful for every owner who brought an animal to our programs, every community member who helped spread the word, and everyone who continues to support responsible animal welfare across Bali. Every animal reached is the result of many people working together, and we're grateful for every bit of help along the way. 🤍✂️

See you in June! 🐶🐱

Blacky is a stray dog who has been well known in this area for a long time. He is often seen moving around the same neighbourhood, greeting people in a calm and gentle way, almost as if he has quietly become part of the daily rhythm of the community that is used to seeing him pass by.

Many locals recognise him as a good-natured dog, non-aggressive, easy to approach, and even in some moments he allows people to gently touch and handle him. Over time, he has become a familiar presence, receiving attention and care from people around him, especially through small acts like being fed or given a place to rest.

Despite this friendliness, Blacky remains a stray dog, and caution is still required during medical procedures. Although he is calm and can interact well with humans, he is not fully predictable in a clinical setting. For safety reasons, sedation using a blowpipe was carried out before the sterilisation procedure, allowing the team to complete the operation safely and in a controlled manner.

We are truly glad to have been able to assist Blacky through this process. There is something quietly heartwarming about him, a dog who lives freely, is cared for by many in his own way, and continues to exist as a small but meaningful part of the environment that has long known him.

We wish Blacky a continued life that is safer, more comfortable, and surrounded by the same gentle familiarity he has always had ❤️
