As children of God, we are called to live in holiness, but that does not mean we will never face temptation. Even when our hearts are set on pleasing the Lord, we may encounter situations that test our faith, challenge our convictions, and try to pull us away from His will.
We see this in the life of Joseph.
Potipharโs wife โcast longing eyes on Josephโ and said, โLie with meโ (Genesis 39:7).
Notice who was pursuing whom. Scripture does not portray Joseph as seeking her out; rather, she was the one pursuing him.
Sometimes temptation doesnโt come quietly. It comes boldly, persistently, and without shame.
**Being tempted does not make you guilty. What matters is how you respond.**
Temptation may come unexpectedly, even when you have no desire to entertain it. But God is faithful, and with every temptation, He provides โthe way of escapeโ (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Holiness is not merely about resisting temptation; it is also about recognizing when to walk away. Joseph understood this. He did not entertain the temptation or negotiate with it. He fled.
Sometimes, the wisest and most godly response is not to stay and prove your strength, but to leave before you fall.
**If you cannot be faithful in the secret place, you are not yet ready for the open doors of opportunity.**
Learn to recognize the way of escape God provides, and have the courage to take it. Sometimes, walking away is the very thing that keeps you walking with God.
