A leafy umbrella, some rolling around, and a little taste of the forest floor. Redi’s got his own way of making the most of Forest School! 🌿😂

At just 5 years old, this young orangutan is learning through curiosity and exploration. Every branch, patch of soil, and new texture offers something to investigate. These experiences help young orangutans develop natural behaviors as they grow.

Messy? Maybe. Meaningful? Absolutely! 🦧🌳

Rescued as orphans, these three girls — Annette, Rosi, and Bodat — never had the chance to learn the ways of the forest from their mothers. But they have each other now. 🌿🦧

And of course the SOC team, the people who are there for them every day, caring for them and doing their best to give them what they need along the way. 🤎

Four limbs or two? Depends on the mood 😌🦧

Orangutans are mainly arboreal, spending most of their lives up in the trees. When they’re on the ground, they usually move on all fours, often using a fist-walking posture. But they can also walk upright on two legs from time to time. Holding onto a friend, like Bodat is doing to Annette here, is totally optional though 😂

Forest life comes with plenty of ways to move! 🌿

Come along with Oca, Oci, and Lulung at Forest School! 🌿

Oca takes the lead on their adventures, Oci is almost always busy munching on something, and Lulung? He’s usually right behind them like a little choco train. 🤎🦧

Behind all the climbing and exploring, they’re also learning to navigate the forest, from moving between trees to recognizing natural food sources. These experiences help prepare them for life in the wild. 🌳

Ikutin Oca, Oci, dan Lulung sekolah hutan yuk! 😆

Kalau ada petualangan, Oca biasanya jadi yang paling depan dan memimpin jalan. Oci? Sibuk dengan urusan perut alias ngunyah terusss. 😂 Sementara Lulung lebih sering ngekor di belakang, dan kadang masih ngantukan di tengah waktu belajar. 😴🍃

Setiap gerakan mereka di hutan sebenarnya bagian dari proses belajar. Dari berpindah dari satu pohon ke pohon lain, mencari pakan, sampai mengenali apa yang ada di sekitar mereka — semua jadi bekal untuk kehidupan mereka di alam liar nantinya. 🦧🌱

Forest School days are for learning, exploring, and finding food in the wild. 🌿🦧

Redi, Banir, Julia, Otan, and Seko are learning to recognize and find natural food sources in the forest. And yes, they still get their morning and afternoon feeds!

These scheduled feeds help ensure they get the nutrients they need while they continue developing the skills to live in the wild.🍃

Di Sekolah Hutan Jerora, Redi, Banir, Julia, Otan, dan Seko belajar mengenali dan mencari pakan alami yang tersedia di hutan. Tapi di sela-sela belajar dan menjelajah, mereka tetap mendapatkan pakan setiap pagi dan sore untuk membantu memenuhi kebutuhan nutrisi mereka.

Jadi, sambil belajar mandiri, kebutuhan mereka tetap diperhatikan.🍃
