Javan Gibbon Research and Conservation Project Conserving the only small ape living in Java island through research, conservation education and community engagement.

Javan gibbon research and conservation project (JGRCP) is a long term field project to study Javan gibbon in Gunung Halimun Salak National Park (GHSNP), West Java-Indonesia. This is a collaboration project between Division of Ecoscience in Ewha Womans University-South Korea and Department of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism-Faculty of Forestry Bogor Agricultural University-Indonesia. T

his project is the first of it is kind from South Korea. The fieldwork was begun in June 2007 and has been operating continuously since that time, making it the longest continuous primate research project on Java today. The long-term mission of the JGRCP in Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park is to study the behavioral ecology of the Javan gibbon, including to promote public awareness and involvement in conservation effort for Javan Gibbon and its habitat as well as to provide a database that will facilitate stewardship of the national park.
