We just took one step closer to protecting life on this planet.ππ
Nature is in crisis. Habitat destruction, species loss, climate change β these are global challenges. To meet them, we must act on the same scale.π
Flyways are how we do this.π«
Each year, billions of birds travel the globe using flyways: avian superhighways linking breeding and non-breeding grounds across countries, continents and hemispheres. A bird's journey doesn't stop at a border, so neither can conservation.π¦
Today, at the BirdLife International Global Flyways Summit, we signed the Nairobi Flyways Declaration. π
By signing the Declaration, we recognise migratory birds as indicators of planetary health, flyways as the connective tissue that no single nation can protect alone. We call for an ecologically coherent network of sites across each flyway, protected and restored. Ultimately, we commit to a simple aim: birds flying free from harm.π
Every signature is a promise to the birds, and to one another. The BirdLife Partnership is how we make it happen.π€
