Community-based Monitoring is a collaborative process where local fishers and the MCC team work side by side to record landing data.

Every fish measured by the team contributes to a bigger picture of the ocean's health. By learning these technical skills, local youth are blending modern science with their traditional knowledge to become the next generation of ocean defenders.

Hello, MCC followers!

We’re back with an update on our collaboration with Blue Ventures Indonesia in Negeri Rutong. After seven months of living alongside the community and conducting dedicated marine surveys, the results are in: we have identified 63 fish species across 26 different families.

This data paints a powerful picture of the rich biodiversity thriving in Rutong’s waters. It’s a testament to the health of the ecosystem and the vital role that local stewardship plays in protecting our oceans.

This milestone is more than just a list of species; it’s the scientific foundation we need to drive sustainable coastal management and empower the community to safeguard their marine heritage for generations to come.

Importantly, this data was collected by our highly dedicated staff, who carried out careful and consistent recording throughout the entire monitoring process.
