Statement by the CENA Coordination on Marco Rubio's visit to Europe.

Marco Rubio is not welcome!

In the coming days, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State and Trump’s right-hand man, will visit a few European countries, specifically Greece, Portugal and Iceland, between the 5th and 8th of October.

His purpose is none other than to advance United States and NATO war plans in cooperation with these governments, as well as to renew the agreements concerning the presence of U.S.-NATO military bases in these countries. This warmongering policy benefits big capital, which do not hesitate to plunge the peoples into bloodshed for the sake of the capitalists’ profits.

The hand of Rubio, which various heads of state are preparing to shake in the coming days, is stained with the blood of the peoples of Palestine, Iran, Lebanon and the wider Middle East. It is the very same hand of U.S.-NATO imperialism that is attempting to economically strangle socialist Cuba through the brutal blockade, while at the same time continuing to invest in the bloodshed in Ukraine.

We, the organisations of the Europe and North America Region of WFDY, declare loud and clear that the butcher Rubio is not welcome in our countries. We do not accept the war plans of the U.S., nor are we available to fight in their wars! Thus, we call for the intensification of the struggle in these very days against the war plans of the U.S. and NATO, against the participation of our countries in the war machine, for the removal of the bases of death from our countries, for the end of the warmongering escalation and for the improvement of the living conditions of the youth.

The organizations of CENA, during the regional meeting held in July in Cyprus, expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people, victim of a genocide perpetrated by the Zionist Regime, with the support of the United States of America and with the complicity of the European Union.

From the CENA regional meeting, we reaffirm our unbreakable solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for their national rights and with their struggle for liberation.

From September 23rd to 26th, the World Federation of Democratic Youth participated in the 52nd edition of the KNE-Odigitis Festival in Greece, organized by KNE.

This festival remains an important political and cultural event, where thousands of young Greeks also had the opportunity to connect with international delegations, as well as to learn about the struggles carried out in each country.

In addition, WFDY also participated in the international seminar, contributing to the anti-imperialist struggle and the struggle for Peace.

Message of solidarity with Cuba - CENA Meeting

The ongoing aggression perpetrated by U.S. imperialism against Cuba, its people and youth, and its Revolution, through an economic, commercial, and financial blockade that has lasted for more than six decades, now intensified by an energy blockade and the infamous accusation against Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, constitutes a barbaric affront to Cuba's right to self-determination and sovereignty, but also an attack against all other Latin American peoples and the peoples of all around the world.

The criminal action of imperialism, which prevents not only oil but also food, medicines, medical and surgical supplies, and equipment from entering the country, undermines and jeopardizes the living conditions of the Cuban people and youth, with dire consequences for their daily lives. It already bears genocidal traits, aimed at punishing them for their support of Cuba's Socialist Revolution and at imposing, upon this heroic people, imperial domination and interests, in the spirit of the Monroe Doctrine.

The resistance of the Cuban youth is an unparalleled example of resistance to imperialism and of commitment to their Revolution, the defense of their rights, peace, and sovereignty.

The Europe and North America Commission of the World Federation of Democratic Youth expresses its solidarity with the struggle of the Cuban youth, reaffirming its profound commitment and internationalist solidarity with Cuba, it’s Socialist Revolution, the rights of its people, peace, and sovereignty.

Cuba is not alone! Cuba will prevail!

The World Federation of Democratic Youth condemns the abduction of Comrade Hassan Shehadeh, a leader of the Palestinian Democratic Youth Union (PDYU), the official responsible for the West Bank and Jerusalem, and a former Palestinian prisoner, by Zionist forces on September 17, following an attack on his home in occupied East Jerusalem.

The abduction of Comrade Shehadeh comes within the broader repression faced by Palestinian youth, activists, and political organizations under occupation. It is part of the ongoing attempt to suppress the Palestinian people’s struggle against occupation and colonial domination and to silence those organizing for liberation, self-determination, national rights, and the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to liberation.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth reaffirms its internationalist solidarity with its Palestinian member organizations and with the Palestinian people and youth in their struggle for liberation, for their national rights, and for the release of all Palestinian prisoners held in occupation prisons.

For WFDY, solidarity with Palestine is inseparable from the broader struggle of the people and youth of the world against colonialism, imperialism, occupation, and oppression. The Palestinian struggle is part of the common struggle of people everywhere for freedom, sovereignty, social justice, liberation, and the right to determine their own future.

WFDY therefore calls upon its member organizations to denounce the abduction of Comrade Hassan Shehadeh, to demand his immediate release and the release of all Palestinian prisoners, and to strengthen their solidarity with Palestinian youth and their organizations through political mobilization and solidarity actions.

Freedom for all Palestinian prisoners!

Today, August 13th, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Commander Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Over the course of these decades, Fidel was and still is a reference point for the anti-imperialist struggle, for the struggle for peace and for equality among peoples.

We do not forget the two festivals held in Cuba in 1978 and 1997. We do not forget the entire struggle of Cuban youth in every corner of the world in defense of freedom, justice, social progress and the building of a new society.

Today, more than ever, the FMJD reaffirms its commitment to defending the Cuban Revolution against the criminal blockade imposed by North American Imperialism.

Statement of the World Federation of Democratic Youth on the Situation in Jammu and Kashmir

The World Federation of Democratic Youth strongly condemns the heinous actions taken by the ruling elite against the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have mobilized in peaceful protests and general strikes. This oppression has taken place because the people have stood up against economic exploitation, political neglect, and imposed austerity measures.

These political issues were not artificially manufactured but are the historical result of short-sighted and elite-driven decisions made by the regime. The reduction of public subsidies, tax hikes, rising inflation-including sharp increases in electricity, utility, and meat prices-along with the wasteful spending and luxurious lifestyles of the ruling elite, are among the key reasons that have driven the people to take to the streets.

While the people have organized under a united movement, the rulers—instead of addressing the public's demands or resolving these issues politically—have deployed military action against the people and movement leaders. They have also detained movement leaders under false accusations. Even though these heinous actions have already caused several deaths, the rulers continue to demand military-driven suppression of the population.

However, as history makes clear, military force cannot solve political disputes or replace meaningful agreements with the people. As a genuine solution, the administration must stop suppression, abandon hollow political promises, fulfill the actual demands of the people, accept political accountability, secure the dignity of the people and uphold democratic rights.

Therefore, the World Federation of Democratic Youth firmly stands in solidarity with the people and progressive movements of Jammu and Kashmir amidst their hardship and political frustration.

Long live the struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir!
Long live the anti-imperialist struggle!
Long live international solidarity!
