Today, August 13th, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Commander Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Over the course of these decades, Fidel was and still is a reference point for the anti-imperialist struggle, for the struggle for peace and for equality among peoples.

We do not forget the two festivals held in Cuba in 1978 and 1997. We do not forget the entire struggle of Cuban youth in every corner of the world in defense of freedom, justice, social progress and the building of a new society.

Today, more than ever, the FMJD reaffirms its commitment to defending the Cuban Revolution against the criminal blockade imposed by North American Imperialism.

Statement of the World Federation of Democratic Youth on the Situation in Jammu and Kashmir

The World Federation of Democratic Youth strongly condemns the heinous actions taken by the ruling elite against the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have mobilized in peaceful protests and general strikes. This oppression has taken place because the people have stood up against economic exploitation, political neglect, and imposed austerity measures.

These political issues were not artificially manufactured but are the historical result of short-sighted and elite-driven decisions made by the regime. The reduction of public subsidies, tax hikes, rising inflation-including sharp increases in electricity, utility, and meat prices-along with the wasteful spending and luxurious lifestyles of the ruling elite, are among the key reasons that have driven the people to take to the streets.

While the people have organized under a united movement, the rulers—instead of addressing the public's demands or resolving these issues politically—have deployed military action against the people and movement leaders. They have also detained movement leaders under false accusations. Even though these heinous actions have already caused several deaths, the rulers continue to demand military-driven suppression of the population.

However, as history makes clear, military force cannot solve political disputes or replace meaningful agreements with the people. As a genuine solution, the administration must stop suppression, abandon hollow political promises, fulfill the actual demands of the people, accept political accountability, secure the dignity of the people and uphold democratic rights.

Therefore, the World Federation of Democratic Youth firmly stands in solidarity with the people and progressive movements of Jammu and Kashmir amidst their hardship and political frustration.

Long live the struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir!
Long live the anti-imperialist struggle!
Long live international solidarity!

The World Federation of Democratic Youth, during the days of July 8, 9, and 10, participated in the 38th Edition of the Anti-Imperialist Festival of Youth and Students in Cyprus, organized by ΕΔΟΝ

This Festival stands as a major political and cultural event where thousands of young people were also able to meet international delegations and learn about their realities and their struggles.

During these days, it was also possible to see firsthand the impacts of the occupation of part of the island and to reaffirm our firm solidarity with the struggle of the Cypriot people and youth for their freedom, for reunification under the solution of a Federal, Bicommunal, and Bizonal State with a single international personality.

Immediate release of comrade Miloš Karavezić!

The Committee for Europe and North America (CENA) of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) denounces the o**y of repression unleashed by the Turkish government against all those who oppose the plans of the US–NATO imperialists, who are meeting these days in Ankara to discuss the "next day" of their war.

The CENA of the WFDY condemns the unacceptable arrest of comrade Miloš Karavezić, First Secretary of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ), who was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, 1 July by the Turkish police authorities for his political activity.

The suspension of democratic rights, under the pretext of a NATO meeting, with the prohibition of all public gatherings, demonstrations, street marches, press conferences and distribution of political propaganda, confirms once again the barbaric nature of this politic-military bloc.

We demand the immediate release of comrade Miloš Karavezić, who can only be judged by his commitment to the struggle for a better world.

La Sede de la Federación Mundial de la Juventud Democrática condena vehementemente el as*****to del compañero Lahbib Mohamed Abdelaziz, miembro más joven de la secretaría del Frente Polisario, y de otros dos combatientes por parte del régimen de Marruecos mediante un ataque con drones.

La Federación Mundial de la Juventud Democrática envía sus condolencias y expresa su solidaridad con el Frente Polisario y la UJSARIO (organización miembro de la FMJD), así como con todo el pueblo saharaui, víctimas de la ocupación por parte del régimen marroquí.

Este ataque constituye una escalada muy grave de la agresión del régimen marroquí contra la República Árabe Saharaui Democrática y contra todo el pueblo saharaui, que ha vivido bajo esta ocupación durante más de 50 años, en violación de los principios del derecho internacional y de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas.

Como Federación Mundial de la Juventud Democrática, reafirmamos nuestro inquebrantable compromiso con la lucha del pueblo y la juventud saharaui contra la ocupación, la guerra y el silencio cómplice de los Estados.
