A Masa Izrael Állam és a Szochnut közös programja, amely 18 és 31 év közötti fiatalokat segít hozzá ahhoz, hogy különféle programok keretein belül 5 vagy 10 hónapon keresztül Izraelben éljenek és tanuljanak, dolgozzanak, megismerkedjenek más fiatalokkal, illetve jobban megismerjék Izraelt, az ország hagyományait, kultúráját, társadalmát, bere

ndezkedését. A Masa által támogatott programok (közel 2000 különféle program) rendkívül széles skálán mozognak, mindenki megtalálhatja köztük a számára legmegfelelőbbet. Masa ösztöndíjra jelentkezhet minden 18 és 31 év közötti, érettségizett zsidó származású fiatal, akár diák, akár már befejezte felsőfokú tanulmányait. Masa is a joined project of the Jewish Agency for Israel and their Ministry of Education. Masa gives the opportunity for students between the age of 18-31 from all over the world to live and study in Israel by taking part in one of over 200 academic and non-academic (kibbutz ulpan, volunteer programmes, internships, etc.) programmes for one or two semester. Programmes provided all over Israel. Apart from the academic studies the participants can study Judaism, Hebrew, do volunteer work, as well as taking tours all over Israel. This is a great opportunity for all young Jewish adults, to live students’ life in Israel, to develop themselves, to meet people from all over the world, all in all, to have one in a life time experience. The Torah tells us the Jewish people left Egypt in Chodesch Haaviv, the month of spring. Not by coincidence. The Jewish calendar is set to make sure, that the month of Nissan and the holiday of Pesach is always a “month of spring”.

Rashi, the famous medieval Jewish commentator, teaches us that God’s taking the Jewish people out of Egypt in the spring was an unmatched chesed (kindness), when it was not too cold and not too hot — the perfect moment to leave.

There’s an important distinction the rabbis make: Rachmanut is compassion, feeling another’s pain. But chesed is going beyond our own limits to lift someone else. After 210 years of slavery, God chose kindness, not just mercy.

This Pesach, may we all be inspired to go beyond simple compassion and offer true chesed — to our families, our communities, and the world around us, and act to our fellow humans with true kindness, just as God did as he took the Jewish people out of Egypt in the month of spring.

And speaking of new beginnings — next year in Jerusalem doesn’t have to just be a prayer. Make it a plan. ✈️ Join Masa Israel next year and experience the magic of Israel, including Jerusalem, for yourself.
