Robert Schuman Institute (Budapest) A European-level training institution of parties and politicians of the European People's Party family since 1995
(1)

The full name of the Robert Schuman Institute (RSI) is “Union of the Robert Schuman Institute for Developing Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe”. Members of this Union currently include 31 political parties and organizations from all over Europe. The Institute works since 1995, as a successor of the “Christian Democratic Academy for Central and Eastern Europe” established in 1991 by the Europ

ean Union of Christian Democrats (EUCD) and a number of national parties and foundations. RSI still operates under the auspices of the European People’s Party. The key activities of the Robert Schuman Institute are political education projects that are conducted in English, including training courses, conferences and study trips. These programmes are provided for the youth of Christian Democratic and Centre-Right political parties and organisations free of charge. We only organise international events for potential young leaders, members, staff and officials of the EPP sister and cooperating parties in our target region. Since the 2004 / 2007 enlargement of the EU we focus mostly on the Eastern and Southeastern new (potential) accession countries and other neighbouring countries of the EU, that is Albania, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine.

🌟 We are proud to have contributed to the successful implementation of “Win the Local Elections: Training for Candidates for Local Councils 2026” in Bratislava, an initiative with the Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung and Restartup.

Over two practical and engaging days, candidates in local elections joined a training designed to turn ideas into a clear campaign plan. 🗳

📍 The programme covered the essentials of running a campaign: understanding strategy versus tactics, identifying and targeting voters, and shaping a personal story together with a strong personal brand.

Participants explored what makes a campaign work in practice. They reflected on where to focus their efforts and how to use their time and energy wisely across different parts of their community. Special attention was also given to direct voter communication and building confidence in face-to-face conversations. 💬

✨By the end of the programme, our group left with a clearer campaign plan, stronger communication skills, hands-on experience, and greater readiness for a successful candidacy. 🚀

Your voice matters! 🇪🇺🗣️

At the RSI, we believe in the power of political education, active citizenship, and the next generation of leaders. Through our role in the EU Youth Stakeholders Group, we help bring young people closer to the EU and ensure their voices shape policymaking. 💬🌍

As the EU shapes its new Youth Strategy post-2027, youth participation in decision-making should be at its heart. 👥✨

📣 That is why this consultation matters. Young people should not only be heard - they should be meaningfully involved in shaping the decisions that affect their lives.

Let’s make sure the next EU Youth Strategy reflects the views, needs, and ideas of young people across Europe. 💡
