Support children in need and have fun at the same time! On Wednesday, 8 May, 2024, 7:00 pm our wonderful and highly entertaining Charity Gala will take place again with top performers of the Hungarian and international music world!
Title: The Power of Love - A Spring Program

The concert is a rousing and colorful show which describes in many ways and musically the power of love against all fears and lows of life. In the program leading musicians of the Hungarian and international music world will present very diverse pieces of music, including classical music pieces as well as chansons, tangos, and arias that describe on the one hand the fears of life, including the fear of death, but on the other hand also the euphoria and power of love which can overcome all the lows of life. At the same time this event is a charity event of the nonprofit organization Thomas Mann All Nations Lions Club - Budapest which raises funds for supporting children in need.
In the first part of the program Liszt Award winning pianist Dráfi Kálmán will perform piano music which reflects on the power of love and joy. Additionally young, up-and-coming artists, who have the potential to be the stars of tomorrow of the classical music scene, will join the first part, presenting their music which addresses the theme of the concert - amongst them the young and exceptionally brilliant Hungarian pianist Elemér Balázs.
The second part of the concert will, however, become very emotional and spirited because the Mexican bass-baritone and former Plácido Domingo scholarship holder Manuel Betancourt Camino (https://www.facebook.com/manuel.betancourtcamino) and his congenial Japanese musician colleague Narihito Mukeda 向田成人 on the piano will present songs and arias, including tangos and chansons, that will not only sing about the inspiring heights of love but that let also wrestle musically love with death. However, the music will ultimately give the audience the hope and certainty that love finally overcomes death, fear and suffering. This part of the evening will present the film music from a "Romeo and Juliet" film adaptation, the prototype story about love and its occasional tragedy, as well as the moving hymn to love of Edith Piaf, which evokes the immortality of love. On top of that chansons, songs and tangos as well as Verdi arias will touch all of life's emotional highs and lows. This will not only fascinate classical music fans, but also people who are otherwise not into classical music. It's truly worth attending this program.
Another argument for joining this program is that each ticket bought is actually a donation for supporting socially disadvantaged children - for example in Zsámbék, where a community of Norbertine Sisters provide daily food and regular social and educational care for those children (http://www.premontreinoverek.hu/english/index.php?lap=¶m=¢er=sisters). The Thomas Mann All Nations Lions Club - Budapest, which is hosting this charity gala, supports this kind of social initiatives. Every ticket for this event is therefore an effective contribution to child welfare.
