Boldog Szent István-napot! 🇭🇺
Today, 20 August, we celebrate Hungary’s national day — a day of history, heritage, community and pride.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the connection between Ireland and Hungary. 🇮🇪🤝🇭🇺

What a way to celebrate....Airshows, Arts, Crafts, Hungarian delicacies, Fireworks, lights and drones and so much more!

Wishing all Hungarians and indeed Irish people in Hungary and all over the world celebrating today a fantastic holiday and long weekend!

One of the best things about IHBC is seeing our own members bring genuinely useful ideas to the wider business community.

Our fellow board member Declan Hannigan is leading Thinking on Your Feet – Difficult Conversations, and the IHBC is very happy to be partnering with Grund Essentials on the event.

It’s a practical session about those conversations most of us have had at some point: when you’re put on the spot, the discussion gets uncomfortable, or you need to respond clearly without making things worse.

A very useful skill set, and probably one we could all sharpen from time to time. We’re looking forward to supporting Declan and hopefully seeing plenty of familiar IHBC faces there.

IHBC past President Damien O'Kane recently visited Longford and discovered the Hungarian flag flying proudly outside the County Council Offices. Part of Ireland’s EU presidency programme, Hungary is twinned with Longford, a county that is developing its hidden Midlands gems year by year.

A great place to visit as we found out through the number of foreign visitors there for the Farrell Clan Gathering. With visitors from USA, RSA, Argentina, the UK and all across the Emerald Isle.

Mad Dog was Keith Mahoney's nickname. He will leave it at that. What he will say is that he named a craft cider brand after it.

MadDog Craft Cider is a premium craft cider label, built from the ground up in the Hungarian market. The range covers both classic craft cider and fruit craft ciders, designed for bars, restaurants, and hospitality partners who want something genuinely different on the menu. Getting that brand established here, in a market where cider is still earning its place, is the milestone they are most proud of.

The next twelve months are about building on that. More brand awareness, wider distribution, and continuing to introduce Hungarian hospitality to what craft cider can actually be.

Keith had been coming to IHBC events for years before Mad Dog Cider existed. He knew the members, he knew the community, and when the business launched, he felt it was simply time to join and give something back.

If you work in hospitality, run a bar or restaurant, or simply know someone who should have Mad Dog Cider on their menu, Keith would love to hear from you.

Tag a friend who needs to try this on a summer terrace.
