We are a dynamic and engaged learning community committed to social justice and working for equity for all people. The purpose of the Women's Resource Center is to create a campus environment where women will thrive. The WRC offers leadership opportunities for students and works in collaboration with a variety of international and community partners. We support women on campus and in the larger co
mmunity. At our center in Leogane, Haiti, the epicenter of the devastating 2010 earthquake, we are building a free medical clinic, a meeting space, workshops, and a hostel for visiting foreign workers and volunteers. All of our buildings will be built by the women themselves using recycled styrofoam that will be collected in an effort to reduce pollution and provide an affordable and sustainable model for the community. This method of building has already been used and tested in various parts of Haiti and has proved to be earthquake resistant and holds up well in the Haitian climate. If you have a skill that you know would be helpful to Haitian women, such as computer literacy, first aid, small business strategies, or agricultural methods, WRC wants to help you bring your message to the place where it is needed most. Guests will be picked up from the Port-au-Prince airport and housed at the WRC campus which is located just outside of Leogane. For a low daily cost of ($??) guests will receive a comfortable room and two meals a day. While at the Center volunteers will have access to the workshops and meeting space as well as translation services in French, English, and Spanish. The WRC serves anyone who identifies as a woman. Any time we use the terms "woman" or "women," we mean this in the most inclusive sense possible.
