Hi y’all,
It’s been a while since out last update here. We have been trying to restrain specific details in social media about our activities for security purposes. Joy of Living staff and kids had been emergency evacuated by helicopter last October. The area was ruled by gangs and riddled with killings, thefts and burnings.
We are now in Cap Haitian, where life is calm and secure. Unfortunately, we need to start over from scratch. Thankfully, the children are already enrolled and attending new schools, new beds and mattresses are being shipped as well as clothes, pillows and bed sheets.
What is needed now is electricity, to provide security and also light up our mornings to facilitate preparations for school days (wake up is at 4 am and departure for school at 6 am, with the time change, there is absolutely no sunlight at those times!)
We would need a 5 kw battery and an inverter. With wiring and installation, this would cost $3800. Thé battery life is 20+ years. This would be a big investment and would provide light and electricity for an easier, safer life.
Please if anyone can donate a portion or all of this, contact us!
Be the light of the world!
