Clark's Haiti Happenings
Standing in the gap, strengthening and encouraging the body of Christ.

“I have told you these things,
so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

There is much trouble in the world, but we can be at peace because we know that Jesus has overcome the world. We must rest in knowing that the victory belongs to Him and all who are in Christ. The battle ebbs and flows like the ocean, but the victory is certain.

Many are declaring that Haiti is on the brink of civil war. There are many vigilantly groups roaming Haiti right now whose purpose is to go after the gangs and those whom they believe fund them. As missionaries in Haiti, we must not focus on the chaos and anarchy, but on the Prince of Peace. We must be a messenger of peace and hope in Christ.
We thank the Lord that the pastors of our 7 New Life churches have not joined the 18,000 Haitians who have already left Haiti under the “conditional stay program” established under the Biden administration. They have remained faithful to their call despite the overwhelming challenges they face. New Life Church of Croix de Mission has lost 500 members as result of gang violence in their area. Yet, Pastor Jeanty and his wife continue live in this dangerous area to minister to the flock that remains.

We thank the Lord that New Life Bible College has 80 students who have completed their final exams for the 1st semester despite having to start Bible College 4 months later then intended do to the unrest in the country. We consider this a miracle. Everything was in place for it to fail because of the ongoing political, economical and social crisis that Haiti faces and yet it is thriving. The students will continue their Biblical and Theological studies through the summer with the objective of starting the new academic year in September.
We thank the Lord for all of the New Life Elementary schools that continue to educate the children despite very difficult circumstances. We thank all those who help the children through our sponsorship program.

Be praying for the following things.
1) Our trip to the States which requires us driving to a city in Haiti 5 hours from us, taking a small plane to the Port-au-Prince international airport, and from there flying to the States.

2) Our Bible College staff, teachers and students as they continue.

3) Our elementary schools and they continue finish this academic year in July.

4) Our Haitian brothers and impoverished neighbors who struggle daily to care for their families.

We hope to see many of you as we attend the Elim Oasis conference, visit churches, and connect with others as we travel.

Christmas Greetings to all!

“The virgin will conceive, and give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel”
Matthew 1:23

The greatest event in the history of mankind is Christ being born, and the greatest message is salvation in the cross and resurrection. In these difficult times, it is good, as believers, to remind ourselves that God is in us and with us.

Most of us could give many testimonies of how God has shown us in various ways that He is always with us. As I look back over this year and the past 37 years of ministry in Haiti, we can testify that God is always with us.

Here’s an example from this week. We were driving into Jacmel to run some errands. As we parked at our first stop, Roger noticed that we had NO BRAKES! He noticed this after we stopped! As most of you know, Haiti is full of hills and mountains. We are thankful that God was with us and that we did not lose our brakes on the mountain! The Lord also provided a wonderful mechanic who saw the problem and had it fixed within 2 hours. Although he didn’t find the exact part, he found one that will work temporarily. We will stay off the mountains until the proper part arrives! Thank the Lord for we are held in His hand.

We rejoice in Christ’s salvation, protection and provision.
We rejoice that our New Life Churches are faithfully serving their communities in difficult and very perilous times here in Haiti.
We rejoice that our New Life Christian elementary schools have recently begun to function again despite the challenges the parents and schools face do to the high cost of living, and transportation. They are also often under the threat of certain factions in the country who are opposed to them functioning.

Our New Life Bible College has not been able to open this year due to various reasons out of our control. Despite not being able to open, we have continued giving our Bible College teachers half salaries, and our staff full salary since many of them, them depend on this income to make ends meet. As result, it has brought a financial burden on the Bible College since 75% of our income comes from the students who attend. We thank those who have already given towards this need. We believe that God will provide all of what is needed.

We still need $3,000 to finish out the year in order to end debt free. We ask you to remember New Bible College in your end of the year giving. Ask the Holy Spirit, how much you are to give towards this.

Prayer Requests:
1) Pray that New Life Bible College may be able to open in January.
2) Pray that the elementary schools may be able to finish out the school year.
3) Pray that law and order be re-established in this nation.
4) Pray that the political impasse be resolved and a provisional government be established that will usher in free and fair elections.
5) Pray for provision, protection, strength and wisdom for Margaret and I.

As 2022 comes to a close, we pray that each of you will know a special presence of God in your lives. As you celebrate the birth of our Lord, may your hearts be filled with His love and overflow to those around you.

Thank you for all you support and prayers. We are thankful for each of you.

We pray that you are doing well in the Lord. We know that there are many challenges we all face, but through Christ we are victorious. We thank all of you who faithfully give and pray for us and the work of the Lord in Haiti.

“So then just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, let us remember, it’s an occasion to show our thankfulness.

God has extended His grace of forgiveness and salvation through Christ, and also, extends His grace daily that we might have all we need to live and serve Him. Those who are overflowing with thanksgiving will touch many lives. In other words, God and others will see your thankfulness through your attitudes and actions of love towards Him and others.

Today we are thankful for many things. We are thankful for God’s provision, protection, and health. We are thankful that He has taken us off the front lines of battle for a time and set us in a lovely place by the Caribbean Sea to be refreshed and restored.

This does not mean that we no longer have many challenges or no longer battle, but we are strengthening those who are on the front lines, in the heat of the battle. We continue to pray, encourage and strengthen those near and far through prayer, teaching and giving. I am doing weekly teachings for leaders in the area where we live, as well as preaching on occasions. The 7 churches of New Life Mission of Haiti continue to minister in their communities. Two of our three elementary schools finally opened this month. Our New Life Bible College in Port-au-Prince remains closed as result of the ongoing economical, social and political crisis in Haiti.

We have committed to paying our Bible College teachers half salary and the staff full salary even though the Bible College is not able to function because their families depend on this income. Also, we are obligated to pay the monthly rent on our Bible College location in Port-au-Prince.

Three quarters of our Bible College income comes from the students, who are presently unable to attend. This means we need $ 8,000 to cover our expenses to end of this year. We ask you to consider how, in this season of thanksgiving, God would have you give towards this need.

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
2 Corinthians 9:11

Prayer requests-
-Continue to pray for peace and stability to return to Haiti. Pray for an end to the gang violence and for a stable, benevolent government to be established.
-Pray for our neighbors, who need to see Jesus as their Savior.
-Pray that we would continue to rest and be at peace in the place that God has us.
-Pray for God’s provision for everyone here, as prices continue to rise daily. Most food items have doubled in price since July.

My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?” Psalms 6:3

We trust that you are all doing well in the Lord.

We are grieving for Haiti and the nations of the world as we see and experience the wickedness of man’s heart. It has now been one year since we, and thousands of others, had to abandon our homes as result of severe gang violence, leaving behind some or all of their worldly possessions. Many homes have since been ransacked and/or destroyed. It has been one year since we have set our eyes on our home in Port-au-Prince and have no assurance of returning any time in the near future without a mighty intervention of God. Life is very different for us now in so many ways, but we thank God that we are still able to serve Him in Haiti. God has been gracious to us in so many ways.

Six out of seven of our new Life Mission churches are doing well. While our largest church, in Croix des Mission, is struggling. This particular neighborhood has been abandoned also, due to gang violence that broke out six weeks ago. People are unwilling to return to their homes for fear of further gang violence. They also feel very uneasy about seeing heavily armed men at every intersection. Pastor Jeanty and his wife have chosen to remain in their home, near the church building. They have been able to have services these past 3 Sundays with 200 of their 800 members. They come to attend Sunday morning service, but leave the neighborhood again as soon as service is over.

We are now closing out the school year for New Life Bible College, and preparing for graduation that will take place June 25th. Also, we are preparing to go to the States on June 29th for 6 weeks.

We praise God for –
-Health, protection and strength.
-Vibrant New Life Mission churches.
-Our 3 elementary schools that will be completing the school year soon.
-That we were able to safely receive all the food for our nutrition program. Providing lunches for 3500 children daily.
-That New Life Bible College has been able to finish the school year despite many challenges.

Pray for the following –
-The country of Haiti as it continues in its destructive pattern with no foreseeable end. Pray for peace and order to return.
-Strength and wisdom as we wind things down here and prepare to leave for the States.
-New Life Church of Croix des Mission that is going through a very difficult time.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9-10

This verse is more real than ever to us and maybe to you as well. Many things have happened these past years which we do not understand. Yet, we rest in God’s sovereignty and love for us. We daily trust in Him, knowing He has it all under control and His purposes will be accomplished.

Although we face daily challenges, we rejoice in God’s goodness to us and in the work He is doing through us in Haiti.

-We rejoice in the fact that we have a studio apartment as our home and the privilege of having beach front property.

-We rejoice that this week we will be finishing the first phase of re-building New Life Church of Lazile, Haiti (foundation and concrete slab floor). Thank you to all who gave towards this and lifted us up in prayer.

-We rejoice that New Life Bible School continues to function with 75 students in attendance.

-We rejoice that God is opening doors of ministry for us in Jacmel. We held a one day leadership seminar this past month with 22 in attendance. Everyone was built up and received new revelation from God. We are planning another in May which we believe will exceed 50 church leaders.

-We rejoice in God’s daily provision and protection. Just this past Saturday, as we were going to Port-au-Prince to direct New Life Bible College and teach classes, a crazy man beside the road threw an 8 inch rock through our back door window on our double cab pick-up truck. We thank the Lord that it didn’t go through Margaret’s window because she would have been severely injured. Also, we rejoice that we were able to connect with the right people who were able to quickly find a replacement window for us, and install it that same day. It was truly a miracle that this happened so quickly. The window was brought from the other side of the city, on a motorcycle, over rough mountain roads to avoid the gang zone, to the garage where our truck was, which is about 15 miles outside of Port-au-Prince.

We ask your prayers for the following things:

-The missionaries and Haitians have seen no improvement in the security situation for over a year. Things continue to worsen. Just last week a Christian organization’s (Agape Flights), that had brought a work team to the south of Haiti, was set on fire in protest of rising costs.

-Pray for protection, provision and health for us and the people of Haiti who are going through the worse crisis Haiti has faced in the past fifty years.

-Pray for God’s provision financially for the second phase of re-building New Life Church of Lazile, Haiti. The cost of this second phase of the building project is $30,000. This would cover the pillars and walls.

Clark's Haiti Happenings
Standing in the gap, strengthening and encouraging the body of Christ.

Greetings in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, February 2022

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37

“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:39

We can testify to these two verses. We have gone through many trials these past couple of years, and still face daily challenges, but God’s love towards us has never failed.

We are rejoicing in God’s faithfulness.

He has provided for us a home in Jacmel, Haiti by the Caribbean Sea, as well as beautiful place to stay outside of Port-au-Prince when need to administrate and teach in our Bible College.

We rejoice that New Life Bible College is functioning despite the high level of in insecurity. We rejoice that, although they face many challenges, we have 22 first year students. Many of these have expressed the call of God on their lives to preach the Gospel of Christ.

It takes our school secretary, Bruny Phadner, 2 hours extra to get to work and back home. This is because he has to take an unpaved mountain road to bypass the area of Martissant, where our school used to be located. This area is very dangerous do to gang activity which includes robbing individuals, and trucks with merchandise as well as regular kidnapping of people.

We rejoice that our New Life Mission nutrition program continues to enable elementary schools provide a hot lunch. This is only by God’s grace. We hire a truck to collect the food and bring it to our storage depot where it is distributed to the 18 various schools. This requires the truck to go through several very dangerous areas. Last week we had to pay off some gang members to go through their area, and in another area we gave some of the food away in order to receive safe passage. Lastly, they had to go through Martissant under gun fire as the gangs there were fighting among themselves. Thankfully they arrived safely at the depot with food enough for 4000 kid’s lunches for 2 months!

We rejoice that our 7 churches continue to serve their communities. We rejoice that we have received sufficient funds to lay the foundation for the New Life Church building in Verdon, Lazile, which was destroyed in an earthquake last August.

We rejoice, also, that our 3 New Life elementary schools are still able to function, bringing the Gospel and education to these children.
Prayer Requests:
Continued provision for us and the work of the Lord,
Continued protection for us and our mission pastors plus workers (total of 40), our Bible College staff of 15 people, and 65 students.
Revival and a change of hearts in Haiti.
Please consider making a special gift towards one or more of the following:
1. Construction of New Life Church in Verdon, Lazile
2. A Bible college student
3. A school child
4. The nutrition/lunch program

Standing in the gap, strengthening and encouraging the body of Christ.
Greeting in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, October 2021

Philippians 4:4 – “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice”

The Lord dropped in my Spirit this morning that we need to rejoice in the Lord. It can be easy to rejoice in the Lord when things are going well and things are going the way you like it, but it is a greater challenge to do this when things are bad and seemingly everything is going wrong.

This past couple of years, everything that could go wrong personally and in the country of Haiti seems to have transpired. I could not recount all the personal challenges we have had as well as the depth of depravity in Haiti. Haiti is at its lowest point since we have lived in here. (38 years for me and 35 for Margaret). There is total lawlessness and anarchy right now in Haiti. The economy is at its lowest point. Politically, there is no legitimate government. Gangs reign with impunity, and the life of all are in danger every day you step out of your door. We have been uprooted from our home, and from the building that was our Bible College and mission headquarters. We are now nomads traveling back and forth from our home in Jacmel to a friend’s place in Port-au-Prince.

Yet, one thing that I am learning through it all is never say it can’t get worse. Also, I have learned that God is faithful, and cares for his people who give their lives to Him. The Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, and we are His sons and daughters.

Therefore, I will rejoice. Yes, I say that I will rejoice.

The good report from the land of Babylon is that God is still on His throne!

-New Life Bible College has now had two weeks of classes with 50 plus in attendance in our new location which God provided for us.

-New Life elementary schools are functioning. We thank the Lord and the hard work of our leadership in Verdon, Lazile. They have reopened the school and church there after a devastating 7.2 earthquake destroyed the church building and school building. With donations from you and another organization in Haiti, we have rebuilt a temporary school building. As result, we have 67 children back in school.

-The church members in Verdon,Lazile have put up a very temporary shelter where they come together and worship the Lord. If you remember, Pastor Ylophane Dieuseul died in his home under his house that collapsed in the earthquake. The new pastor that we installed is a man that Pastor Ylophane brought to salvation in the Lord, discipled and groomed to take his place when the time came for his departure to glory.

-We are in the midst of adding on to our home in Jacmel. We will in the near future, Lord willing, have an inside bathroom, small multipurpose room and running water. Soon will be gone the days of walking across the yard to use the bathroom, and taking bucket baths.

Prayer requests:

-Pray that God will rise up people nationally and internationally who will intervene on behalf of the Haitian people who are living in some of their darkest days.

-Pray that the spiritual powers of darkness be brought low in this nation.

-Pray that God will continue to protect us.

-Pray that God will provide the funds to rebuild the church in Lazile, and a permanent school building.

-Pray that God provides the $4,500 needed to cover the rent for the new location of New Life Bible College.

-Pray for protection over our building in Port-au-Prince, which still has most of our earthly possessions, as well as Bible College furnishings and a full library.

Finally, we rejoice in the fact that we have supporters like you who pray for us and give to the various needs. We could not be doing what we are doing without you. Your messages encourage us greatly. We thank God for each one of you.
Daily trusting in His faithfulness,

Thank you.
