**ONE BILLION RISING HAITI 2016 PROJECT**

In October of 2015, a group of committed citizens created "ONE BILLION RISING - HAITI 2016". The goal was to engage citizens in Haiti’s ten departments in 2016 in the international movement, ONE BILION RISING, launched by Eve Ensler (author of the play The Va**na Monologues), to end r**e and s*xual abuse against women. One Billion refers to United Nations statistics that one in three women in the world, about one billion, will be r**ed or beaten in their lives. In September of 2012, 160 countries participated in a first international event. This was the origin of the "One Billion Rising" movement. There were then One Billion Rising (2014) and One Billion Rising: Revolution (2015). In 2016, the theme chosen was be: LISTEN! Each year the events take place on a different theme. CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION World statistics make a damning observation of the oppressive situation in which women are subjected. One in three women in the world has already been the victim of violence. Haiti does not escape this reality: in 1996, according to the Haitian Center for Research and Action for the Promotion of Women, 70% of Haitian women had experienced situations of violence in various forms, including s*xual, psychological and social, or political. In addition, 27% of Haitians reported having been physically abused at some time since the age of 15. A startling 32% of women reported that the perpetrator was their husband or partner. ONE BILLION RISING SHARES Mass actions take place in artistic form: dances, songs, theater, poetry competitions or in the form of conferences, seminars on the impact of violence against women. It is also an opportunity to mobilize for the support of the victims and their access to available resources. In Bangladesh, in 2014, emphasis was placed on the rights of women working in factories. In India 100,000 rickshaw workers have received training on gender equity. In Peru, construction sites have been declared areas free from s*xual harassment. In the Philippines, the authorities were urged to protect girls who were at risk of becoming s*x workers. **PROJET «ONE BILLION RISING AYITI 2017»**

En octobre dernier, un groupe de citoyens et citoyennes engagés a créé « ONE BILLION RISING - HAITI 2016 ». L’objectif est de faire participer les dix départements d’Haïti en 2016 à un mouvement international, ONE BILION RISING lancé par Eve Ensler (auteure de la pièce Monologue du Vagin), pour mettre fin au viol et aux abus s*xuels contre les femmes. Le milliard fait référence aux statistiques des Nations Unis qui dit qu’une femme sur trois dans le monde, soit environ un milliard, sera violée ou battue dans sa vie. Le 20 septembre 2012, 160 pays ont participé à un premier évènement international. Ce fut l’origine du mouvement « One Billion Rising ». Puis se sont succédés One Billion Rising (2013) avec 207 pays participants, One Billion Rising for Justice (2014) et One Billion Rising: Revolution (2015).Chaque année les évènements se réalisent autour d’un thème diffèrent. En 2016, le thème retenu sera : LISTEN! CONTEXTE ET JUSTIFICATION
Les statistiques mondiales font un constat accablant de la situation d’oppression à laquelle les femmes sont soumises sous toutes les latitudes. Une femme sur trois a déjà été victime de violences dans le monde. Haïti n’échappe pas à cette réalité : en 1996, selon le Centre Haïtien de Recherches et d’Actions pour la Promotion Féminine, 70% des femmes haïtiennes avaient vécu des situations de violence sous différentes formes, y compris, s*xuelle, psychologique, sociale, politique etc. 27% d’haïtiennes avaient déclaré avoir subi des violences physiques à un moment quelconque depuis l’âge de 15 ans. 32% des femmes déclaraient que l’auteur était le mari ou le partenaire. LES ACTIONS « ONE BILLION RISING »
Ces actions de masse se font sous forme artistiques : danses, chants, théâtre, concours de poésie ou sous forme de conférences, séminaires sur l’impact de la violence faites aux femmes. C’est également l’occasion de se mobiliser pour le support des victimes et leur accès aux ressources disponibles. Au Bangladesh, en 2014, l’accent a été mis sur les droits des femmes travaillant dans les usines. En Inde 100,000 travailleurs de pousse-pousse ont reçu une formation sur l’équité du genre. Au Pérou, les sites de construction ont été déclarés zones libres de harcèlement s*xuel. Aux Philippines, les autorités ont été poussées à protéger des jeunes filles qui étaient sous menace de devenir des travailleuses s*xuelles. Pour plus d’information sur le mouvement :
