Today, May 18th, is Haitian Flag Day

The Origin Story- In 1803, revolutionary leader Jean-Jacques Dessalines tore the white stripe out of the French tricolor flag. His goddaughter, seamstress Catherine Flon, stitched the remaining blue and red strips together to signify that diverse groups were uniting as one.

The motto on the flag supports this togetherness; translating to

At Petite Palm we have always been about the momma's 💗

In fact, we started as Mama Zwazo which translates to Mother Bird

We have even returned our focus to our nonprofit so that despite the ongoing situation in Port au Prince we can still walk alongside our artisans to continue to support them ✨

The rest of this month we want to continue to celebrate moms and we will be pointing you in the direction of some organizations in Haiti who are directly impacting the lives of Haitian women in various ways
