On June 4, 2025, the United States announced a full travel ban on Haiti, set to take effect on June 9. Haiti is now the only country in the Western Hemisphere subject to this level of restriction.

This policy will have significant consequences, disrupting families, limiting mobility, and affecting communities across borders. For us, it reinforces the need for continued action.

At the same time, there are important signs of progress. Haiti has been elected to the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO), a major step forward in elevating Haitian leadership within global health policy and regional coordination.

This is especially significant in relation to our work, including our support for health clinics and systems in rural areas, as we advocate for sustainable, community-led solutions that reflect Haiti’s voice at every level.

The policy landscape may shift, but our commitment remains steady.

Caribbean American Heritage Month is here, and we stand in celebration of the vibrant cultures and visionary leadership shaping our Caribbean future.

From Haiti to Jamaica, from Trinidad to Saint Lucia, the Caribbean is a wellspring of strength and determination.

We especially recognize and honor the work of regional institutions like CARICOM, the Caribbean Development Bank, and countless grassroots organizations across the diaspora. Their tireless efforts continue to advance economic cooperation, climate resilience, and cultural unity across the region.

Here’s to a Caribbean that thrives. Here’s to our ancestors, our leaders, and the generations rising.

🇭🇹✨ Jounen sa a, nou selebre nou! | Today, we celebrate us! ✨🇭🇹

🇭🇹 Even in the face of injustice, we celebrate who we are.

The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for the federal government to end protections for over 500,000 migrants. It’s a devastating blow, especially for Black immigrant families, including Haitians, who already face harsh conditions.

Haitian heritage is not a policy, it’s a legacy. We choose to stand firm and lift our voices in celebration of Haitian heritage.

From the Citadelle to the community clinic in Fondwa, our legacy is one of boundless hope.

Support the work. Honor the roots.
Invest. Share. Celebrate.

🇭🇹 Did You Know?

Haiti was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to outlaw slavery in its constitution, not just abolish it, but ban it as a practice altogether.

In 1805, under Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Haiti’s constitution declared that “no white man, of whatever nation he may be, shall set foot on this territory with the title of master or owner.” This bold legal stance made Haiti a beacon of liberation for enslaved people across the globe.

From the battlefield to the lawbooks, Haiti led the world in defending human dignity. ✊🏿🔥

🇭🇹 Haitian Heritage Month Spotlight: The National Theatre of Haiti 🎭

Did you know? Haiti is home to Le Théâtre National d’Haïti, a symbol of cultural pride and creative resistance. Founded in 1983 in Port-au-Prince, this state-supported institution preserves and promotes Haitian performing arts, including folklore, drama, dance, and music, reflecting our people’s resilience and brilliance.

🎟️ The National Theatre is more than a stage, it’s a mirror of our soul, amplifying the voices of Haiti’s storytellers and freedom dreamers.

Celebrate with us by learning something new about Haiti each day!

Haitian Heritage Month

Did you know?

• The Gourde, Haiti’s currency, is one of the few in the world not pegged to the U.S. dollar and is named after a small calabash gourd once used as money.

• The coat of arms features a palm tree topped with the Phrygian cap, symbol of freedom, surrounded by cannons and flags, a declaration of independence and self-defense.

• Haiti was the first Black republic and the first nation in the Western Hemisphere to abolish slavery permanently.

These national truths remind us of Haiti’s role as a pioneer of freedom and sovereignty. We continue the legacy by investing in community-led development across generations.

During Haitian Heritage Month we honor the beauty woven into Haiti’s identity, its national symbols.

Did you know?

• The national flower is the hibiscus (chozèt).
A symbol of delicate strength, it grows wild across the countryside.

• The national bird is the Hispaniolan Trogon (kòk kalité).
Rare, resilient, and radiant, like the people of Haiti.

• The motto on Haiti’s flag: L’Union Fait La Force – “Unity Makes Strength.”
It’s more than a phrase, it’s our foundation.

APF GLOBAL honors these symbols by building strength through unity, cultivating beauty through action, and preserving our culture through service.

Celebrate Haiti.

Happy Haitian Flag Day! Bòn Fèt Drapo Ayisyen!

🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹
Today we honor the bold, unbreakable spirit of the flag. Born of revolution, the Haitian flag represents the world’s first Black republic, founded by the courage of enslaved Africans who fought for freedom and won.

At APF GLOBAL, we carry that legacy forward through sustainable development, community empowerment, and deep spiritual roots, building a stronger Haiti.

Raise your flag. Honor your roots. Invest in the future.
