Please visit the Info section for more information. ActionAid Haiti aims to contribute to the establishment of a Haitian society deeply transformed in its structures and governed by a decentralized state that respects human rights and demonstrates a democratic structure. The programs & projects address the structural causes of poverty through the reinforcement of communities’ capacities to express
their demands. Further the approach is participative, seeking to involve the principal actors concerned in the search for solutions to their problems. As such, the projects included in the Country Program take into account these considerations and are implemented in partnership with local organizations. ActionAid Haiti’s regular program is carried out in the following development areas (DA’s): Thiotte, Bani (Dominican Republic), Lascahobas, Jeremie, Port-au-Prince, Hinche and Petit-Goave. Right to food, women's rights, right to a free & quality education for all, right to human security, and right to a just & democratic governance are the main programmatic activities in these DA’s. Since the devastating January 12th 2010 earthquake, ActionAid Haiti implemented an emergency response program that has been able to reach 12,000 families (around 138,000 people) in all its DA’s with food and non-food kit distributions, livelihoods work, education support, temporary shelter, protection and psychosocial activities, activities and sensitization on disaster-risk reduction, cholera prevention activities, and capacity-building trainings.
